ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (9-7-0) won their fifth straight game at home in a fight-filled game at Germain Arena, outscoring the Toledo Walleye 8-1 on Friday night in front of a boisterous crowd of 5,039.

Seven different players scored and goaltender Jaroslav Janus made 40 saves for the Everblades who notched season high totals for goals, most goals in one period, margin of victory and penalty minutes en-route to their second straight win over Toledo (4-8-2).

The opening period of the game saw the game's tone set in terms of the physical play as the clubs combined for two fights and 34 Penalty Minutes. Offensively the Walleye came out strong, out-shooting the Everblades 8-2 at one point before finished the period with an 18-6 shot advantage. However it was Florida that tallied the period's only goal when Mike McKenzie notched his first professional goal at 13:19 of the frame off a nice passing play by Mitch Fadden and Bobby Raymond, allowing the Blades to enter the first intermission up 1-0.

The opening four minutes of the second period broke the game open as the Everblades scored three times in that span to capture a 4-0 lead. The scoring blitz began with Matt Pistilli notching his seventh goal of the year just 1:39 into the period with Florida on the power play. Less than a minute later Ross Carlson made it a 3-0 game when his shot from the right circle snuck between the pads of Toledo goaltender Joe Palmer at 2:35. Carlson's first goal of the year came off assists from McKenzie and Jared Staal.

The Everblades grabbed control of the game at the 3:42 mark of the second period when Alex Hutchings scooped up the loose puck at the left side of the net before tucking it home for this fourth goal of the season. The goal was made possible after McKenzie picked up a turnover at the top of the circles before letting a shot go that Palmer stopped, but failed to control.

Late in the frame the Everblades saw Francis Lemieux tally the team's season-high fourth goal of the period, short-handed, after jumping out of the penalty box to end a 5-on-3 Toledo man advantage and taking a pass from David Fischer before breaking in on Palmer and slipping a shot between the Walleye net-minder's pads at 15:38.

Although the physical play took a back seat in the second period, it came to a head in the third period with the teams combining for three more fights and 76 Penalty Minutes. The scrapping started early when the two team captains squared off in a slugfest that led to both Florida's Mike Egener and Toledo's Adam Keepfe receiving game misconducts just 1:35 into the period.

Just over a minute later the Everblades tacked on their sixth goal of the night and their second power play goal when Alex Imbeault tallied his team-high 12th goal of the year at 2:47 after a quick passing play saw Fadden feed Lemieux at the bottom of the right circle before whipping a pass across to Imbeault in the left circle.

The Everblades opened a seven goal lead midway through the frame just at the conclusion of a power play when Phil Paquet found Mathieu Roy with a good pass in the neutral zone that allowed Roy to gain the offensive zone with speed. Once in the clear Roy rifled home his sixth goal of the season from the top of the left circle that found the upper right corner of the net. Hutchings added the second assist on the tally.

In goal Janus saw his shutout bid come to an end at the 13:44 mark when Peter LeBlanc fired a quick wrist shot from the top of the right circle up over his glove to make the score 7-1. Before the dust settled the Everblades tacked on their eighth goal at 15:41 with their third power play goal and second goal of the night by Ross Carlson off assists by McKenzie and Raymond.

In goal Janus improved to 4-3-0 with the win and Palmer saw his record drop to 0-3-0 after allowing the eight goals on 29 shots.

The win improved the Everblades to 6-1-0 at home this season, while Toledo fell to 2-3-1 on the road.

Overall the two teams combined for 122 penalty minutes and on the power play, the Everblades finished the night 3-of-9, while Toledo closed out the game 0-of-5.
