
Road Warriors Fall Short in Comeback Attempt

Orlando, FL: The Road Warriors staged late comeback attempt that fell short on Sunday after in a 5-4 against the Orlando Solar Bears.
Ian Slater gave Orlando an early lead with a score 5:07 into the game. Andrew Rowe tied the game with a power play goal and his 31st of the season. The goal would tie an all-time single season record for Greenville. Taylor Matson responded to return Orlando to a one-goal lead with a power play goal. His 18th of the year was scored in the slot after a shot block trickled to him. Josh Nicholls tied the game once again with another power play goal to end the period. The goal was his 20th of the season giving the Road Warriors four 20-goal scorers this season.
Mike Ulrich scored 1:07 into the second period to give Orlando a 3-2 lead. Wade MacLeod extended Orlando's lead with their third power play goal of the game. This goal chased goaltender Jeff Malcolm who was replaced by Jason Missiaen. Malcolm completed the game with 16 saves.
MacLeod began the third period with a goal 1:15 into the frame. The goal gave Orlando a 5-2 lead. Marc-Olivier Vallerand cut the lead about two minutes later for his 26th of the season. The final goal of the night came from defenseman Brad Cole while shorthanded. Cole scored his fifth of the year on a slap shot with a pass from Kyle Jean who finished the game with three assists. The Road Warriors could not score in the final push even with an empty net and an extra attacker. Missiaen was the losing goaltender with 14 saves.
