EASTERN CONFERENCE QUARTERFINALS

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: On this, the final day of the regular season, the Cyclones will get one last tune-up for the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals as they tussle with the Toledo Walleye. The Clones have had great success against the Fish this season, going 6-2-2 in their 2013-14 season series.

SCOUTING THE WALLEYE: Dan Watson's club fell 4-3 in a shootout last night against the Fort Wayne Komets and, regardless of today's outcome, will finish in the basement of the Eastern Conference standings. Their biggest Achilles heel this season was their lack of defense; the Walleye have allowed 264 goals - the most of any team in the ECHL. Their long-time captain Kyle Rogers is the club leader on offense, posting 33 points (14g, 19a) in 63 games. Unlike previous years, though, he hasn't been as deadly against the Clones - notching just three points in nine meetings. Maxim Shalunov is also a threat to light the lamp, with 33 tallies (18g, 15a) in 42 contests. Former first round draft pick Hannu Toivonen has been their go-to-guy in net for much of the season; he's gone 12-16-1 overall with a 3.36 goals-against average. Jared Coreau has also seen time between the pipes, amassing a 1-12-3-3 record with a 4.03 GAA.

LAST HEAD-TO-HEAD MEETING: MARCH 8, 2014: Matt Abercrombie scored the game-winning shootout goal as the Walleye squeaked past the Cyclones by a 5-4 final score in front of 6,666 at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday night. After dropping the first of back-to-back games against Toledo last night, the Cyclones hoped for a reversal of fate tonight, but net minder Hannu Toivonen stood strong for his team, turning aside 37 of the 41 shots he faced in regulation and stopping six of seven attempts in the shootout. Josh Birkholz scored twice in the defeat, helping his team earn another valuable point in the Eastern Conference standings.

Four Score and Win: Cincinnati's league-leading offense has been a huge reason for their success this season. When they reach the four-goal plateau, they are a remarkable 30-2-0-2.

Closing Time: The Clones have been among the most automatic teams in the ECHL when leading after two periods. Only two other teams have more wins in this situation during 2013-14. Cincinnati's record when ahead through 40 minutes is 31-0-2.
