Matchup:
The Solar Bears conclude the 2014 regular season (Kelly Cup Playoff Schedule to be announced soon) with an afternoon contest against the Greenville Road Warriors at the Amway Center today. Orlando earned a point in 1-0 shootout loss to the Reading Royals last night in a contest that saw both goaltenders record shutouts through 65 minutes of action. Reading nearly tallied a goal in the opening frame, but rang a shot off the post while G Maxime Clermont turned aside all 10 shots on goal to keep the game scoreless after the first. Orlando began to pour on the pressure in the second frame, but could not find a way to sneak a puck past Reading G Brandon Anderson despite recording 15 shots in the period. Neither side was able to break through in the final stanza or in overtime, but the Royals scored three times in the shootout to gain the 1-0 shootout win. Combined with a Cincinnati loss last night, the one point earned by Orlando was enough to boost them into sole possession of fourth place in the Eastern Conference. The Road Warriors come into this contest in a three-way tie for sixth place in the division, and by earning a single point can secure that position. Greenville was in action against the Florida Everblades last night, and despite scoring the first goal 1:08 into the game, they fell by a final score of 6-1 to Florida.
