
Royals to Face Fort Wayne Komets in ECHL Eastern

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team will face the Fort Wayne Komets in the ECHL's Eastern Conference Quarterfinals best-of-seven playoff series starting Thursday, April 17, 2012 (@ 7:05 pm et) at Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania.
The first round series will pit the top seeded Royals against the eighth seeded Komets. Games One and Two (Saturday, April 19 @ 7:05 pm et) of the best-of-seven series will be played at Santander Arena in Reading. Games Three (Thursday, April 24 @ 7:30 pm et), Four (Friday, April 25 @ 8:00 pm et) and Five, if necessary, (Sunday, April 27 @ 6:00 pm) will be played at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The series will return to Santander Arena for Games Six, if necessary, (Tuesday, April 29 @ 7:05 pm et), and Seven, if necessary, (Wednesday, April 30 @ 7:05 pm et). The Royals and Komets faced each other four times during the regular season with the Royals winning all three games played in Fort Wayne, while the Komets took the one matchup between the two clubs in Reading. For the Royals, who are the reigning Kelly Cup Champions, this marks the ninth time (and fifth consecutive season) in the thirteen year history of the organization that the team has qualified for post-season play. This is the first appearance in the Kelly Cup Playoffs for the Komets, who are in their second season in the ECHL.
