
Rivermen Make Several Roster Moves

Peoria Rivermen General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald announced a host of player moves for the team on Monday.
The St. Louis Blues have assigned goaltender Hannu Toivonen to the Rivermen following the conclusion of St. Louis' regular season. With the Blues, the 23-year-old Hattula, native posted a 6-10-5 record, 3.44 GAA and .878 save percentage. For Peoria, Toivonen is 4-3-0 with a 3.49 GAA and .864 save percentage.
The team re-signed forward Eric Neilson to a Professional Try-Out agreement. The 23-year-old Fredericton, New Brunswick native has appeared in 16 games with the Rivermen, posting two assists and 75 minutes in penalties - an average of 4.7 minutes per game.
Also added to Peoria's roster were defensemen Stephen Wood and Joe Grimaldi. Wood appeared in 16 games with Peoria last season, with two assists and 10 minutes in penalties. He spent all of this season with the ECHL's Trenton Devils, working in 66 games with 17 goals and 34 assists for the club. Over the course of his career the 6-2, 211-pound blueliner has played 84 AHL games between Philadelphia, Peoria, and Bridgeport.
Grimaldi comes to Peoria from the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators, where he spent 21 games with the club and notched a goal and three points with 74 PIMs. The 21-year-old Ronkonkoma, NY native has also appeared in three games with Rochester and Albany this season.
Finally, the Rivermen today released defensemen Jason Dest and Jim Jackson, plus forward Ryan Murphy from their PTO agreements.
Peoria will get back on the ice Wednesday night in Rockford against the IceHogs at 7:05 pm, returning home for Rivermen Concert Events Friday with Switchfoot and Athlete; and Saturday night American Idols Justin Guarini, Kimberly Caldwell, and Gina Glocksen will perform! Both games start at 7 pm. The Rivermen will then cap the season on Sunday in Chicago against the Wolves at 3 pm.
