
Riverkings Elvis Themed Jerseys Benefit Local Charities

Southaven, MS -- The RiverKings honored Mississippi-born Elvis Presley Saturday, January 12, as they beat the Youngstown Steelhounds 6-4 at the DeSoto Civic Center.
In honor of Elvis' birthday, which was January 8, the RiverKings wore one-of-a-kind Jailhouse Rock hockey jerseys. These game worn jersey's, sponsored by SportClips, were auctioned off immediately following the night's win, raising money for Kings Court Booster Club and Hernando Youth Sports.
"We are excited to announce that these one-of-a-kind jerseys so far have raised over $11,000 dollars for Kings Court Booster Club and Hernando Youth Sports," Dave Mattice, Director of Business Operations said.
Kings Court Booster Club is the booster club for the Mississippi RiverKings, whose mission is to support and keep hockey in the Mid-South. The organizations focus is to make the community a comfortable place for the RiverKings players to live, play hockey and entertain fans. Members of the Kings Court Booster Club have an exclusive opportunity to attend events with RiverKings players, participate in sponsoring a player, and much more.
Hernando Youth Sports is alocal organization that operates recreational programs for area youth, including baseball, softball, football, and roller hockey.
"These one-of-a-kind jerseys would not have been possible without Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE) allowing us to work with them on this project," said Michael Rice, RiverKings representative. "We are honored to have had this opportunity and hope this partnership can be built upon for the future."
For those fans who were not be able to attend the game January 12 and are interested, additional jerseys will be available for auction on eBay beginning the week of February 11, 2008. The funds raised by these jerseys will also benefit Kings Court Booster Club and Hernando Youth Sports.
