Hounds Fall To Kings 5-1

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Youngstown SteelHounds fell to the Mississippi RiverKings by a score of 5-1 on Friday night. The Hounds are now 1-2-0 on their eight game home stand.

The Hounds scored first as Milan Maslonka scored his third goal of the season at 5:25 to make it 1-0 after one period. The power play goal was the lone tally with the man advantage for the night as Youngstown was 1-9 while the RiverKings were 0-8 on the power play. Chris Richards had an assist to extend his assist streak to five games.

Mississippi took over in the second period as Sheldon Wenzel scored his first goal of the season at 2:02 to tie the game at one. Ryan Held tipped a Peter Kennedy shot past Andy Franck at 5:58 to give the Kings a 2-1 lead after two periods.

In the third period Chad Woollard scored two goals at 8:02 and 15:58 with Rick Kozak scoring one in the middle at 8:48 to give the Kings the 5-1 win.

Ian Keserich stole the show in his return to Ohio as the Parma native made 37 saves on 38 shots in the win for the Kings.

The Hounds are now 26-16-2 (54 points) while the Kings improve to 26-14-2 (54 points). Both teams are once again tied for second place in the Northeast Division. Mississippi has now won three straight games in this series to take a tiebreaker by winning five of the nine meetings.
