August 25, 2015 - Southern League (SL1)
Biloxi Shuckers News Release

BILOXI, MS - In typical MGM Park fashion, a matchup between the Biloxi Shuckers and the Mobile BayBears required extra-innings, with the Shuckers walking-off victorious, 2-1, on Yadiel Rivera's RBI single to left field in the 11th inning on Monday night. Biloxi has six walk-off victories in 35 games at their brand new home and jumped back to 20-games over .500 in the second half of the season. The Shuckers keep pace with the M-Braves and remain three games back with 13 to play in the half

The walk-off win was the seventh in 35 games played at MGM Park and sixth in extra-innings (6-2). The Shuckers improve to 10-5 overall in extra-inning contests and 25-17 in one-run games. 12 of the 24 meetings between the Shuckers and BayBears have been decided by one run and four of the of the 14 played at MGM Park have gone to extras.

In the second-straight 11-inning game between the clubs, Nathan Orf (3x4, R, BB) singled against Jimmy Sherfy (1-6) to start the bottom of the 11th, then moved to second after a walk to Josh Fellhauer (0x3, 2 BB). Nick Shaw (0x1) came on to pinch hit, but struck out attempting to bunt for the first out of the inning. Rivera (1x5, RBI) then stroked the only hit with runners in scoring position (1-for-6) into left to bring home a hustling Orf for the winning run. Both teams combined to go 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position on Monday.

Orf extended his on-base streak to 13 games and has now reached safely in 36 of his last 41 games.

Jorge Lopez made his 23rd start of the season. The Brewers second round pick in 2011 worked out of a jam in the first after loading the bases, but struck out Gabriel Guerrero for the final out of the inning to escape unscathed. The 22-year-old did allow a run in the third after Socrates Brito singled with one out and Garrett Weber followed with a ground-rule double to put two runners in scoring position. Rudy Flores' sacrifice fly to center plated Brito to give Mobile a 1-0 lead.

Lopez ended up allowing just the one run in his six innings on 101 pitches. The Puerto Rico native picked up his 15th quality start of the season, seventh-straight, while walking one and punching out six.

Biloxi tied the game at 1-1 in the home-half of the fifth. Tyrone Taylor (1x4, R) started things out with a single to left and Adam Weisenburger (0x1, HBP) was hit by a pitch to place two aboard for Lopez, who put down a sacrifice bunt to advance both runners into scoring position. Brett Phillips (0x4, RBI) lifted a deep drive to right field that was caught by Guerrero, but plated Taylor to knot the game at one.

John Omahen delivered his own quality start for the BayBears. In six innings, the 26-year-old gave up the one run on two hits, two walks and six strikeouts on 101 pitches.

Jacob Barnes got the first call out of the bullpen for the Shuckers and continued his torrid pace in relief, striking out three in two innings while only allowing a hit. In 41.1 innings out of the 'pen, the Ft. Myers native has allowed 12 earned runs for an ERA of 2.63 in 28 outings.

Damien Magnifico took the ninth and gave up a hit, but also got a strikeout to keep Mobile off the board. Jed Bradley (1-1) worked the final two frames and allowed two hits while picking up two punchouts for his first victory as a Shucker.

Orlando Arcia (1x5) extended his hitting streak to eight games with a single in the eighth, and has recorded at least one hit in 12 of his last 16 games.
