River Rats to Play Four in Five this Week

The Albany River Rats take on the Rochester Americans in a 7:00pm face-off at Pepsi Arena on Wednesday night. The Rats return to western New York to take on the Binghamton Senators on Friday night at 7:05pm. Then Albany returns home to host the Hamilton Bulldogs on Ladies Night this Saturday at 7:00pm. The busy schedule closes on Sunday when the River Rats make their first and only visit to the Worcester IceCats' Centrum Centre in a game that has been re-scheduled for 7:15pm.

Rat Bites:

C Craig Darby earned his 100th point as a River Rat on Friday night in Binghamton. He leads Albany in goals (12), assists (16) and points (28) during the 2003-04 campaign. D Raymond Giroux is tied for second among AHL defensemen with seven goals and leads all River Rat blueliners with 10 assists and 17 points this season. RW Jiri Bicek tied Steve Brule for second place on the River Rats' all-time games played list by skating in his 394th game on Friday night. He is now 12 games behind current Assistant Coach Geordie Kinnear's 406 games played from 1993 through 2002.

January 9th - ALB 4 @ BNG 5 – C Craig Darby recorded a goal and an assist, while LW Joe Hulbig extended his point-scoring streak to six games (5-3-8) with a third period tally. C Adrian Foster netted a shorthanded marker and G Matus Kostur stopped 17 shots in his AHL debut in relief of G Scott Clemmensen.

January 10th - ALB 0 @ HER 5 – G Matus Kostur made 31 saves in his first AHL start as the River Rats dropped their third straight game. Former Albany captain Steve Brule picked up a first period power play goal as the Bears took a 2-1 lead in the season series.
