West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The Quad Cities River Bandits rallied in the final two innings to defeat the West Michigan Whitecaps 4-3 Friday at Fifth Third Ballpark.
Austin Schotts gave West Michigan what looked to be all the runs they needed with a two-run single and a 3-1 Whitecaps lead. After two solid innings from Tyler Ford, Gabe Speier allowed two hitters to reach base in the eighth before Johan Belisario came in to walk Nick Tanielu and allow Ryan Bottger's game-tying two-run bloop single to tie the game at three. In the ninth, Belisario walked two more batters before Sean McMullen hit a soft fly ball that landed just fair down the right-field line to score Jason Martin and give Quad Cities the go-ahead run at 4-3.
Belisario (1-2) picked up his second loss in his last three appearances after walking four in an inning of work. Angel Heredia (2-0) picked up his second win by throwing three shutout innings in relief. The Whitecaps fall to 27-28, while the River Bandits improve to 38-17.
FATHER TIME STRIKES BACK
A day after the Whitecaps played their fastest nine-inning game of the season; finishing their 3-2 Thursday victory in 2:12, West Michigan played their longest regulation game of 2015, spanning 3:26.
