Beloit Sky Carp News Release

BELOIT, Wisc.- The Beloit Snappers fell to the Lake County Captains by a score of 6-3 in 10 innings on Saturday night.

The game started out as a pitcher's duel as neither team scored until the fourth inning when Lake County's Yu-Cheng Chang hit a solo homer (5) to left center field to give his Captains the 1-0 lead.

Lake County increased their lead to 2-0 in the fifth when Greg Allen singled on a groundball to center field to bring in Grant Fink.

In the bottom of the fifth, Beloit's Robert Martinez hit a solo home run to center field to put the Snappers on the board and make the score 2-1.

The Snappers took the lead in the bottom of the sixth when Joe Bennie hit a 2 RBI single to plate Trent Gilbert and Yairo Munoz and make the score 3-2, Beloit.

Just when things looked to be going Beloit's way, Sandber Pimentel dropped a routine fly ball at first base in the ninth, allowing Lake County's Dorssys Paulino to reach base. Cody Stull walked Grant Fink, putting runners on first and second before Bobby Ison singled on a line drive to left field to score the tying run to make the game 3-3. That was Stull's second blown save of the season.

Beloit couldn't get anything going offensively in the bottom of the ninth so the game went into extra innings and the Snappers brought in Rob Huber to pitch the 10th. Huber walked Claudio Bautista and the next at bat Bobby Bradley hit a homer (7) on a fly ball to left center field to give the Captain's the lead, 5-3. Lake County ended up scoring once more before the top of the 10th was over, making the score 6-3.

That score would stand to be the final score as the Snappers couldn't find any offensive fire power.

Huber suffers the loss and goes to 1-3 on the season as Lake County's Caleb Hamrick earns the win and goes to 1-0.
