
Miles Nordgren joins Kernels from Extended Spring Training

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that RHP Miles Nordgren will join the Kernels from Extended Spring Training and that RHP Michael Cederoth has been placed on the 7-day DL, retroactive to June 5, with an undisclosed injury. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.
The Twins selected Nordgren in the 23rd round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft out of Birmingham Southern College. He posted a 1-3 record and 2.23 ERA in 16 games (one start) and three saves with the GCL Twins. In 44.1 IP, he allowed 17 runs (11 earned) and 48 hits, walking eight and striking out 20. He made two relief appearances for the Kernels this season, allowing no runs on three hits, walking one and striking out two over 3.1 IP.
Cederoth has made 11 appearances (six starts) for the Kernels this season, posting a 1-4 record and 4.08 ERA. In 35.1 IP, he allowed 33 hits and 23 runs (16 earned) with 18 walks and 37 strikeouts.
Nordgren will join the team in Grand Rapids, MI and be available for tonight's 6:05 PM game against the West Michigan Whitecaps. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the Midwest League maximum of 25 active players, with 10 players currently on the DL.
The Kernels are in the midst of a six game Eastern Division road trip with games at West Michigan. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, June 10th and open a nine-game home stand that continues through Thursday, June 18th.
