London Rippers News Release

FLORENCE, KENTUCKY - After a 7-game winning streak, the London Rippers (10-14) have dropped four in a row, being handed a 6-2 loss by Florence.

The Freedom finished off a three-game sweep of the Rippers behind a strong performance by starter, Andres Caceres (2-1).

Caceres gave up five hits and two runs, none earned, while walking one and striking out three through 8 innings.

Florence scored one in the 3rd and one in the 4th, on Chris Curley's 6th homer of the year off London starter, Matt Schimpf (2-1), improving Florence's lead to 2-0.

Schimpf went six innings and gave up 6 runs, three earned, on nine hits. He did not walk anyone and struck out three.

Tony Delmonico made his second pitching appearance of the season in the 7th and gave up a single and a wild pitch, allowing Florence's 6th run to score.

London's first hit and first runs came off the bat of Justino Cuevas.

In the top of the 6th, Cuevas singled and with two on base in the 8th he beat out a single and advanced to second on a throwing error. The error allowed both runners to score, bringing London as close as they would get at 6-2.

London now heads to Evansville for a three-game series against the Otters, another East Division opponent.

Jamie Richmond (2-1 3.48) gets the ball for the Rippers tomorrow against Evansville's Matt Zielinski (2-1 4.45). Game time is 7:35pm.
