London Rippers News Release
LONDON, ONTARIO - Two four run innings led the London Rippers (19-29) to the all- star break on a winning note, blowing past Traverse City (32-16) 9-2.
London took two of three from the Beach Bums, who lead the East Division at the break.
Brandon Sinnery was the story for the Rippers, throwing 8 solid innings, allowing two runs on seven hits. He walked one and struck out seven.
The two runs Sinnery gave up were on homers. Jose Vargas hit his 18th of the season in the top of the 1st . Kyle Colligan went deep for the 4th time in the 7th .
The Rippers opened their portion of the 1st with four straight hits, including an RBI single by Joash Brodin and an RBI double by David Christensen, putting London up 2-1.
They closed the inning with a 4-1 advantage after an RBI ground out from Ben Magsig and the first of two doubles on the day for Jim Vahalik.
Vahalik's second double of the game drove in Mark Samuelson and Christensen, launching the Rippers to a 7-1 lead and chasing Traverse City All-Star, Reid Kelly.
Kelly (6-2) came into the game with a 6-1 record and a 2.77 ERA but gave up eight earned runs in only 2.1 innings, his shortest outing of the year.
Stephen Cardullo singled in London's 9th run of the game to close the 3rd inning.
The London Rippers enter the all-star break with a 19-29 record. They will begin the second half of the year on July 13th in Windy City against the ThunderBolts. London's first home series starts July 16th against the Southern Illinois Miners.
