Herrera to Represent RiverHawks in Home Run Derby

LOVES PARK, Ill. - RiverHawks All-Star Javier Herrera will be swinging for the fences on Tuesday, around 6:30 p.m., as the slugger will represent the RiverHawks in the 2012 State Farm Home Run Derby at the Corn Crib in Normal, Ill.

Herrera currently sits at seven home runs, which ties him for second on the team.

Assistant Coach Justin Small is expected to be the pitcher for Herrera in the event.

All-Stars with the highest home run totals from each team will participate in the contest. For Evansville and Washington, teams without a position player All-Star, their slots will be filled by All-Stars with the next highest home run total.

The Evansville and Washington slots will be taken by Traverse City's Jeff Flagg and Windy City's Chad Maddox.

The first round will consist of 8 outs per batter, with any ball that is not a home run considered an out. The top four batters will advance to the second round, which will also consist of 8 outs. The top two totals of the first and second rounds combined will advance to the finals, which will be five outs.
