TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Bowie Baysox will meet in game two of a three-game series...The Flying Squirrels couldn't hold a 6-2 lead as the Baysox used a four-run sixth inning to tie the game en route to an 8-7 series-opening win on Friday night in front of 1,563 fans at Prince George's Stadium.

TONIGHT'S STARTERS: Left-hander Ryan Verdugo gets the start in game two of the series for the Flying Squirrels...Enters the 2011 season rated as the #25 prospect in the San Francisco Giants farm system according to Baseball America...Received a no-decision in his last outing 4/23 against Altoona...Allowed one run on three hits in six innings...Struck out four batters and walked none...Only run allowed came on an Eric Fryer leadoff home run in the top of the second inning...Retired 15 of the next 17 batters he faced following the home run...Recorded 10 fly outs and four ground outs...Retired the leadoff batter in five of his six innings on the mound (Fryer HR)...Threw 89 pitches, 53 strikes...Threw first-pitch strikes to 10 of the 21 batters he faced...Threw 15 pitches or fewer in three of his five innings on the mound...Went three balls in the count to eight of the 21 batters that he faced...Set single-game career-high for longest outing (6.0 IP)...Went a combined 8-1 with a 1.87 ERA in 44 games, including one start, with Low-A Augusta and San Jose...Suffered the lone loss in his pro career 4/29/10 at Hagerstown...Pitched with Scottsdale in the Arizona Fall League in 2010...Went 4-1 with a 2.45 ERA in seven starts while striking out 26 batters and walking 16...Began the 2009 season in Extended Spring Training...Went 4-0 with a 1.27 ERA in 23 games with the AZL Giants and Low-A Augusta...Selected in the 9th round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft...Attended LSU and Skagit Valley (WA) College.

RUN OVER: The Flying Squirrels bullpen surrendered three runs in three innings in last night's loss at Bowie...The club's bullpen had allowed just one run over its previous 17 innings...Richmond's staff ERA ballooned from 2.90 to 3.11 as the club fell from first to third in the Eastern League in staff ERA.

HOME RUN HAPPY: The Flying Squirrels have hit four home runs over their last five games; however, the club is still tied with Trenton for the fewest home runs hit this season (7)...Richmond allowed two home runs in a game for the second time this season (4/20 at Trenton)...The club has allowed 12 home runs this season, tied with Reading for sixth-most in the Eastern League.

TAKING OFFENSE: The Flying Squirrels fared much better offensively over their last eight games, scoring 41 total runs (5.1 R/G) while hitting .252 (73-for-290) as a team...Richmond struggled offensively during their last road trip, hitting .199 (39-for-196) as a team on the six-game, seven-day, trip through Altoona and Trenton...The club scored a total of 12 runs (2.0 R/G), five of which came in Richmond's lone win (5-2) 4/15 at Altoona...The club raised its team batting average from .217 to .231.

THE GEORGIA PEACH: Second baseman Charlie Culberson went 2-for-5 with a double, and a RBI last night against Bowie and has hits in a season-long five straight games...The 22-year-old has hits in eight of his last nine games and is batting .389 (14-for-36) with four doubles, a triple, a home run, seven RBIs, and six runs scored...He has walked five times and has struck out seven times over that stretch...Culberson has appeared in all 21 games for the Flying Squirrels and leads the Eastern League with 85 at-bats.

NOOONAN: Shortstop Nick Noonan has hits in each of his first eight games with the Flying Squirrels since joining the club from Extended Spring Training on 4/21...The 21-year-old is 9-for-34 (.265) with two RBIs and five runs scored while striking out seven times and walking five...It is the longest hit streak of the season for a Flying Squirrels' batter and is the second-longest current active streak in the Eastern League to Trenton's Corban Joseph who has hits in 11 straight games...Noonan's longest hit streak in 2010 was five games, which occurred four times...The longest hit streak of his career is 14 games (5/31/08-6/19/08).

THE JOLLY ROGER: Outfielder Roger Kieschnick has hits in six straight games, his longest hitting streak of the season...Over his last six games, the 24-year-old is 8-for-24 (.333) with two doubles, three RBIs and six runs scored...The longest hit streak last season for Kieschnick was just six games which occurred twice...The Texas Tech product missed 75 games in 2010 due to a back injury...Kieschnick also stole two bases last night at Bowie, the first multi-stolen base game of the season for a Flying Squirrel and the first multi-stolen base game in his career...The Dallas, Texas, native is 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts this season and is 14-for-18 (.778) in stolen base attempts in his career.
