Gose Has Three Hits But Fisher Cats Fall 4-1 In Trenton

(Trenton, NJ)- Anthony Gose went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases but the Fisher Cats dropped a 4-1 decision before 6,905 on Saturday night at Waterfront Park in Trenton.

Trenton (10-12) opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning. Bradley Suttle (2-for-4, HR, RBI) singled to left field to lead-off the inning. He moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI single by Corban Joseph to make it 1-0.

The Fisher Cats (11-9) tied the game in the top of the fourth inning against Trenton starter Manny Banuelos. Gose singled, stole second, and moved to third on a groundout. He scored on a wild pitch to make it 1-1.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Suttle skied the first pitch from Joel Carreno for a home run over the right field foul pole to put the Thunder back up 2-1.

The Thunder extended the lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Ray Kruml singled, and Addison Maruszak followed with his first career Double-A home run to make it 4-1.

Carreno fell to 0-3 with the loss. He worked a season-high 6.2 innings for the Fisher Cats, allowing five hits and four runs. He walked two and struck out seven.

Banuelos worked the first 4.2 innings for Trenton, allowing one run on three hits. He walked two and struck out three. The Trenton bullpen worked 4.1 scoreless innings. Kai Igawa (1-0) earned the win, Brian Anderson worked a scoreless eighth inning, and Fernando Hernandez pitched a perfect ninth for his second save.

The Fisher Cats conclude the series in Trenton on Sunday at 1:05pm. RHP Zach Stewart 1-1, 2.92) starts for New Hampshire against Thunder LHP Shaeffer Hall (2-1, 2.92). Radio coverage begins at 12:45pm with Bob Lipman on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
