Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Kansas City Royals announced a transaction that affects their Triple-A affiliate Omaha Storm Chasers roster prior to tonight's matchup against the Round Rock Express at Dell Diamond.
Right-hander Miguel Almonte has been optioned to Omaha from Kansas City. The right-hander had been recalled by the Royals on April 19, though he did not make an appearance. In two starts with the Storm Chasers this season, the 23-year-old has accumulated an 0-2 record and 7.20 ERA (4 ER/5.0 IP), adding eight strikeouts.
Omaha's roster now stands at 25 active players, in addition to four on the Disabled List, and a revised roster has been attached.
The Storm Chasers are slated to face off in the third game of their four-game set in Round Rock this evening, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT at Dell Diamond. Omaha is set to give the ball to RHP Brooks Pounders (2-0, 1.48), who enters play on Thursday tied for third in the Pacific Coast League in wins and fifth in earned-run average, while the Express are expected to counter with RHP Chi Chi Gonzalez (0-1, 8.00).
The Storm Chasers return to Werner Park on Saturday, April 23 to begin an eight-game homestand featuring the Colorado Springs Sky Sox and Oklahoma City Dodgers. First pitch for the series opener on Saturday evening is set for 7:05 p.m.
Tickets for that contest and all remaining Storm Chasers games are still available and can be purchased online at www.omahastormchasers.com/tickets, or by calling the Werner Park Ticket Office at (402) 738-5100.
