Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League will return to home ice after they finish their three-game road swing in San Diego on Friday. The Condors take on the first-place Idaho Steelheads at 7:00pm on Saturday night, then the team hosts the Long Beach Ice Dogs on Sunday in a 5:00pm match.

Saturday's game against Idaho marks the return of the Blues Brothers to Centennial Garden, sponsored by FOX 98.5 and HealthSouth. Jake and Elwood bring their song and dance routine to Bakersfield to entertain the crowd and perform on the ice.

Sunday's game against Long Beach features several promotions. First, everyone in attendance will receive a Condors Cheer Sign, sponsored by the Bakersfield Californian, Real Rock 104.3 and Coleman Homes. The sign features a full-color action shot of Condors defenseman Quinn Fair.

This game is also "Help for the Homeless" Night, sponsored by Real Rock 104.3. Anyone bringing in two or more canned food items will receive a free terrace level ticket to the game. The kids will be out in full force for the contest, as it's another Colonel Claw'd's Kids Club Night. All members of the kid's club, which is sponsored by Time Warner Cable, The Bakersfield Californian and John's Incredible Pizza, receive free admission to this game.

Sunday's game is also a T.H.I.N.K. as well. The T.H.I.N.K. Program, (Turning Hockey Into New Knowledge) allows students to earn tickets to this game through exceptional performance. Included in the program is an assembly, which sends Condors players to local schools to talk with children about the importance of education. 101.5 KGFM, Paramount Farms and ARRC Technology sponsor the T.H.I.N.K. Program.

In addition to the game being broadcast on KGEO AM 1230, Sunday's game is also the first-ever Spanish broadcast in franchise history. The game will be carried live on KWAC La Nortena 1490 AM, with Jose Morales handling the play-by-play duties and Jorge Escalante and Juan Manuel Martinez serving as color commentators.

The Condors Coach's Show airs every Thursday on KGEO AM 1230 from 6:00-7:00pm, and is usually live from the Holiday Inn Select. This week, however, the Condors are on the road in San Diego, so it will be held live on the road. Although the team is playing in San Diego on Friday night, fans can still watch the club on Time Warner Cable Ch. 21, as another "Condors Classic" airs at 7:00pm. This week's game is a classic against Marty Raymond's Phoenix Mustangs, from December 30th, 2000. The game will also be replayed on Saturday morning at 10:00am.

Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden Box Office, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. Season tickets and group outings may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden.

Condors droppings: The Condors will hold the next public skate on the afternoon of Sunday, February 23rd from 1:00-3:00pm. Admission is just $7. Skate rental is available for an additional $3... The Condors are preparing to launch their first ever online chat on the team's website at www.bakersfieldcondors.com.
