(Washington, PA) - Jake Renshaw (10-4) held the Washington Wild Things (33-44) to one hit as the Joliet Slammers (48-30) took game one of Tuesday's doubleheader by a final score of 2-1.

Because the game was part of a doubleheader, it lasted only seven innings. Renshaw went the full seven to earn his fourth complete game of the year.

The Slammers were the "home team" in game one of the double header as it was a make-up game for the one between the teams that was rained out back on June 15.

It was Washington taking the early lead on a Jonathan Cisneros solo home run in the top of the third. But the Slammers responded right away as Ben Hewett doubled to start the bottom of the frame. He moved to third on the play thanks to an error by right fielder Luis Rivera. David Fox followed with a RBI single and the game was tied at one.

Joliet took the lead in the bottom of the fourth on Erik Lis' team-leading 18 th home run of the season.

Meanwhile Renshaw was brilliant again as he went the distance, surrendering only the Cisneros homer. He did walk four batters but struck out eight in the victory. The Slammers were held to five hits by Washington starter Gary Lee (2-5), but the Lis home run was enough to make the difference.
