Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

Jamestown, NY - The Hudson Valley Renegades dropped both games of a doubleheader to the Jamestown Jammers on Thursday, falling to 32-14 this season. Jamestown won the first game 4-1, and the second game 4-2. Both games were seven inning contests, after having game one of the series postponed on Wednesday due to unsafe field conditions. Hudson Valley is still the only team in the New York-Penn League with 32 wins, and they lead the McNamara Division by 7.5 games over the Brooklyn Cyclones.

Game one remained scoreless until the Jammers scored first with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. They added three more runs in the fifth, and led 4-0 heading into the top of the seventh inning. The Renegades scored their first and only run on an RBI double off the bat of Clayton Henning. Chris Pike went the first five innings in his sixth start of the season. He gave up 4 runs and struck out four in the outing. Mike Franco pitched the sixth inning and gave up no hits and no runs.

The Renegades started the second contest with two runs in the top of the first inning. Jamestown answered back with four runs of their own in the bottom half. Neither team would score another run the rest of the way. Hunter Wood got the start on the hill, and went four innings with three earned runs and two strikeouts. He was followed by Eli Echarry and Brian Miller. The two each went one inning without surrendering any runs.

Offensively in game two, Braxton Lee, Bralin Jackson, Christ Talley and Alec Sole all picked up base hits. Hunter Lockwood earned his 37 th run batted in, with a sacrifice fly in the first inning. The Renegades scored their two runs on four hits.

Notes: Even with the two losses on Thursday, Hudson Valley still holds the best record in the New York-Penn League. Their 19-3 home record is the best in the league, and their 13 road wins are the most in the McNamara Division. With Hunter Lockwood driving in another run at the plate, he is now just one RBI shy of the league-lead.

Hudson Valley returns home on Wednesday, August 6th to host the Williamsport Crosscutters at Dutchess Stadium. First pitch is 7:05 PM. Join is for "Couples vs Singles Night," a night dedicated to singles and couples to see if two heads are better than one.
