Reign Take Two Of Three From Vegas

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign opened the season strong, winning two out of the three games against the Las Vegas Wranglers in three consecutive match ups. The Reign opened the Citizens Business Bank Arena on Saturday, Oct. 25, for the inaugural season home opener in a 4-1 victory in front of 8,832 fans. The Reign gained four points in the standings this week and currently sit tied for first with the Fresno Falcons in the Pacific Division.

The Reign take on the Bakersfield Condors and the Phoenix Roadrunners this week playing the Condors Wednesday, Oct. 29, and the Roadrunners in Phoenix on Friday, Oct. 31 and at home at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Saturday, Nov. 1.

UPCOMING PROMOTIONS:

Wednesday, Oct. 29 - The Ontario Reign are asking fans to help a Citizens Business Bank Arena employee whose home was lost in a fire over the weekend. Fans are encouraged to bring extra household items including end tables, pots and pans and other kitchen items to the Reign Fan Relations site inside Citizens Business Bank Arena, which will be collected and donated to the employee. Monetary donations or gift cards for clothing and retail stores are also appreciated to help aid in the recovery of necessary items.

Wednesday, Oct. 29 - Fans are invited to attend the Reign post game party at McAlen's Pub and Grill located at 6321 Haven Ave, Rancho Cucamonga, just north of the 210 at the Haven Ave. exit. Food and drinks specials are available to all Reign fans in attendance.

Saturday, Nov. 1 - Fans are encouraged to stop by WinningSmiles Dentistry located at 17113 Arrow Boulevard in Fontana, the day after Halloween, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. WinningSmiles will be collecting Halloween candy and giving out cash to kids; $1 for every pound that is donated. Candy must be donated unopened where it will then be shipped to American troops overseas. In addition to WinningSmiles Dentistry, the Ontario Reign and the Loma Linda University Children's Hospital are sponsoring the candy buy back event and donations will be taken to help benefit the Loma Linda University Children's Hospital. A Reign mascot will be on hand to take photos and mingle with fans!

Saturday, Nov. 1 - The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a Reign Team Poster courtesy of Novelty Printing. The poster features all of your favorite Ontario Reign players and coaching staff. It's the perfect item for all of your Reign autographs.

Thursday, Oct. 23 - Ontario Reign @ Las Vegas Wranglers (W, 4-2)

Four different Reign players scored a goal in the 4-2 win over Vegas and the Reign power play capitalized scoring two of the four goals on the night in the man advantage. Darren McMillan, Geoff Walker, Jon Francisco and Brad Mehalko found the net for the win in front of 5,019 at Orleans Arena.

Friday, Oct. 24 - Ontario Reign @ Las Vegas Wranglers (L, 4-1)

The Reign split the road series with Vegas losing to the Wranglers 4-1 in front of 4,802 at Orleans Arena. Jon Francisco scored the lone goal on the night for the Reign, his second on the year.

Saturday, Oct. 25 - Ontario Reign vs. Las Vegas Wranglers (W, 4-1)

The Reign recorded their first home victory in a 4-1 win over Las Vegas in their third game against the Wranglers in three days. Jon Francisco continued his four game point streak with two assists on the night. Dan Knapp, David Walker, Todd Jackson and Ryan Bowness, his first pro goal, each lit the lamp in the win. Goaltender Jeff Zatkoff helped seal the victory stopping 34 of the 35 shots he faced on the night, earning him the first star of the game. The Reign were outshout by nearly double as they put up 18 shots on the night, but were able to convert nearly one-quarter of the attempts to seal the win.

- Jeff Zatkoff won all three games he appeared in this week, stopping 62 of the 65 shots he faced, and earned a .954 save percentage.

- John Francisco continued his 4-game point streak this week tallying 2 goals and 2 assists with a +1 rating on the week.

- Ryan Bowness scored his first professional goal Oct. 25
