
Reich Hits Stride After Return

REICH SETS CAREER HIGH: Left wing Jeremy Reich extended his assist streak to four games last night, recording two assists in the Crunch's 6-3 loss to San Antonio. With the assists, Reich set a career high with 29 points, recording 7 goals and 22 assists in 45 games. His previous high of 27 points (14g, 13a) was set in 78 games during the 2002-03 season. Since returning from Columbus on February 5 Reich has points in five of the six games his has played (2g, 5a). In eight games with the Blue Jackets this year, Reich has one assist and 20 penalty minutes. In 238 career AHL games, all with Syracuse, Reich has 36 goals, 51 assists and 572 penalty minutes. He is 77 penalty minutes shy of John Badduke's franchise mark of 649. Originally drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks with their third choice, 39th overall, in the 1997 Entry Draft, Columbus signed Reich as a free agent on May 17, 2000.
ONE WIN SHORT: Syracuse had their six-game winning streak snapped last night, falling one win short of tying the club record for longest winning streak, set January 26 - February 8, 2000.
PLAYOFF RACES BEGIN TO TAKE SHAPE: Syracuse (52 games - 62 points) will enter Wednesday's game against Binghamton seven points behind Hamilton (55 games - 69 points) for first place in the North Division and one point ahead of third place Cleveland (53 games - 61 points). The Crunch are eight points ahead of Rochester (54 games - 54 points), nine points ahead of St. John's (56 games - 53 points), ten points ahead of Toronto (55 games - 52 points) and thirteen points ahead of Manitoba (57 games - 49 points). Twenty-one of the Crunch's 28 remaining games will be against the North Division rivals. Syracuse is 11-6-4-2 against North Division opponents this season.
COLUMBUS/SYRACUSE SHUTTLE: Through Monday night's game 17 different players (Anders Eriksson, Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre, Mark Hartigan, Tim Jackman, Aaron Johnson, Espen Knutson, Pascal Leclaire, David Ling, Kent McDonell, Brad Moran, Joe Motzko, Andrej Nedorost, Sean Pronger, Jamie Pushor, Jeremy Reich, Todd Rohloff, Derrick Walser) have appeared in a Columbus and Syracuse uniform this season and 18 players (Zenith Komarniski - recalled but did not dress) have spent time on both rosters.

Scoville and Traynor to Skate at Clinton Square Ice Rink: Crunch defensemen Paul Traynor and Darrel Scoville will be at Clinton Square Ice Rink to skate today from 2-3 p.m. to skate and sign autographs.
Price for admission is $3 for adults and $1.50 for children (12 and under) and senior citizens (55 and older). Rental for skates is $3.

Crunch Players to Sign Autographs at Bradley's Jewelers: Crunch players Joe Motzko, Ben Knopp and Tyler Sloan will be on hand at Bradley's Jewelers on Thursday, February 19 from 4-5 p.m. to sign autographs.

Scooby-Doo to Visit War Memorial at Oncenter, February 18: The Syracuse Crunch, along with Time Warner Cable, announced that their Wednesday, February 18 game against the Binghamton Senators will be Scooby-Doo Night.
A huge, lumbering Great Dane, Scooby-Doo typically cowers with fright as the mascot of Mystery, Inc. Lovable but chicken-hearted, Scooby must be coaxed into scary situations with the promise of a Scooby Snack. Together with his close friend Shaggy, he consumes mass quantities of food, ranging from mango milkshakes to pizzas.
Scooby-Doo will be available during the first and second intermissions at the February 18 game, in Memorial Hall to sign autographs and take pictures with fans.

BINGHAMTON (OTTAWA SENATORS): Syracuse hosts Binghamton on Wednesday, February 18 for the seventh of eight regular season meetings between the clubs. Syracuse leads the series 4-3, after shutting out Binghamton 3-0 at the War Memorial at Oncenter in their last meeting on February 13. In head-to-head scoring, right wing Tim Jackman leads all players with six points (2g, 4a). Left wing Denis Hamel (2g, 3a) paces Binghamton with five points. Karl Goehring has appeared in four games for the Crunch, posting a 2-2-0 record, a 2.00 goals against average and a .940 save percentage. Ray Emery has appeared in five games for Binghamton, posting a 2-3-0 record, a 3.21 goals against average and .899 save percentage. Lifetime, the Crunch are 6-7-1 against the Senators.
ROCHESTER (BUFFALO SABRES): Syracuse then travels Rochester on Friday, February 20 for the seventh of 12 regular season meetings between the clubs. Syracuse leads the series 4-2, after defeating Rochester 3-2 in their last meeting on February 14 at the War Memorial at Oncenter. Right wing Tim Jackman paces all players in head-to-head scoring with seven points (5g, 2a). Right wing Jason Pominville leads Rochester in head-to-head scoring with five points (2g, 3a). Pascal Leclaire has appeared in six games, posting a 4-1-0 record, with a 2.06 goals against average and a .945 save percentage. Ryan Miller has appeared in five games, posting 1-4-0 record, a 2.80 goals against average and a .877 save percentage. Lifetime, the Crunch are 41-52-13 against the Amerks.
WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON (PITTSBURGH PENGUINS): Wilkes-Barre/Scranton visits Syracuse on Saturday, February 21 for the seventh of eight regular season meetings between the clubs. Syracuse leads the series 4-2, after defeating Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 6-1 in their last meeting on February 6 at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza. Center Brad Moran paces all players in head-to-head scoring with eight points (5g, 3a). Center Kris Beech leads the Penguins in head-to-head scoring with five points (4g, 1a). Pascal Leclaire has appeared in four games, posting a 3-1-0 record, with a 2.00 goals against average and a .946 save percentage. Andy Chiodo has appeared in three games, posting 1-2-0 record, a 3.02 goals against average and a .883 save percentage. Lifetime, the Crunch are 24-14-6 against the Penguins.
NATIONWIDE INSURANCE COLUMBUS UPDATE: The Blue Jackets (17-29-8-4, 46 points) enter this week in fourth place in the Central Division, 17 points behind Nashville (63 points) for third place. Left wing Rick Nash leads the NHL with 31 goals and paces Columbus with 42 points (31g, 11a). There are currently six players on the Columbus roster that have appeared in a Crunch jersey (Jody Shelley, Duvie Westcott, Aaron Johnson, David Ling, Pascal Leclaire and Anders Eriksson).
INJURY UPDATE: Defenseman Paul Traynor is listed as day-to-day will a hamstring injury that he suffered on February 7 @ Hershey. He has missed four games with the injury... Center Brad Moran is listed as day-to-day with a bruised foot that he suffered on February 11 @ Binghamton. He has missed three games with the injury. Through 52 games this season the Crunch have lost 56 man-games due to injury (Trent Cull - 16, Paul Traynor - 11, Brandon Sugden - 9, Zenith Komarniski - 8, Sean Connolly - 5, Andrej Nedorost -5, Pauli Levokari - 4, Shawn Limpright - 4, Brad Moran - 3 and David Ling - 67).
