Senators recall player from Binghamton

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today recalled, on an emergency basis, forward Serge Payer from the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Payer, 24, has 26 points (11-15), 56 penalty minutes and a +1 +/- rating in 46 games with Binghamton this season. Today's recall is the first of the season for Payer.

Payer has played 43 career NHL games with the Florida Panthers. Undrafted, he was acquired from the Panthers in exchange for a ninth-round pick in the 2004 draft on September 10, 2003.

Ottawa's next game is tonight (Feb. 17, 7 p.m.) when they visit the Washington Capitals at MCI Center. The Senators, who sit second in the Northeast with a 32-15-7-4 record, return to the Nation's capital following the game and will host the Atlanta Thrashers Thursday.

The Binghamton Senators currently sit tied for fourth in the East division with a 25-22-5-2 record. Their next game is Wednesday (Feb. 18) when they visit Syracuse.
