Kings Activate Hnilicka; Assign Him To Manchester

MANCHESTER, NH – The Los Angeles Kings, the NHL affiliate of the Manchester Monarchs, on Tuesday activated goaltender Milan Hnilicka from the injured reserve list and assigned him to Manchester. Also on Tuesday, the American Hockey League suspended defenseman Joe Rullier for three games. Hnilicka, 30, broke a finger during a Kings practice on January 2. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of Litomerice, Czech Republic, has appeared in two games for the Kings this season, posting a 0-1-0 record, a 3.75 goals-against-average and a .881 save-percentage. He began the season with the Monarchs, posting a 4-6-0 record, a 2.84 goals-against-average and a .895 save-percentage in 10 games. In 121 career NHL regular season games with the Kings, the Atlanta Thrashers and the New York Rangers, Hnilicka has a 29-67-13 record and a 3.31 goals-against-average.

Rullier, 24, received a three-game suspension for his actions against the Providence Bruins on Sunday, February 15. The 6-foot-3, 211-pound native of Montreal, Quebec, will miss games on Wednesday, February 18 in Lowell, on Friday, February 20 in Providence and on Saturday, February 21 in Portland. Rullier, originally selected by the Kings in the fifth-round (133rd overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, has appeared in 52 games for the Monarchs this season, recording 10 points (3-7=10) and 138 penalty minutes.

The Kings (22-16-14-7, 65 points) return to the ice on Wednesday versus the Dallas Stars at STAPLES Center at 10:30 p.m. (ET). The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net, ESPN Radio 710 - KSPN and along the Kings Radio Network. On the club's pre-game show, Break the Ice, Kings right wing Scott Barney is slated to be the special live in-studio guest. Break the Ice begins at 7 p.m.

The Monarchs (25-21-4-3, 57 points) continue their season-long six game road swing through New England when they meet the Lowell Lock Monsters at 7 p.m. at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell on Wednesday, February 18. Their schedule also includes road games at Providence against the Bruins on Friday, February 20 at 7:05 p.m., and at Portland against the Pirates on Saturday, February 21 at 7:05 p.m. After that, they open a four-game homestand at the Verizon Wireless Arena against the Binghamton Senators on Monday, February 23. Monday's game against the Senators is scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start.
