AHL announces suspensions

SPRINGFIELD, MA ... The American Hockey League announced today that Manchester Monarchs defenseman Joe Rullier and Providence Bruins center Brendan Walsh have each been suspended for three (3) regular season games for abuse of officials in a February 15, 2004 AHL game in Providence.

Rullier will miss Manchester's next three games: Wed., Feb. 18 at Lowell; Fri., Feb. 20 at Providence; and Sat., Feb. 21 at Portland. Walsh will miss Providence's next three games: Fri., Feb. 20 vs. Manchester; Sat., Feb. 21 at Binghamton; and Sun., Feb. 22 vs. Worcester.

The AHL also announced that Binghamton Senators right wing Brian McGrattan has been suspended for four (4) regular season games and defenseman Jan Platil has been suspended for two (2) regular season games as a result of their actions in a February 13, 2004 AHL game in Syracuse. Syracuse Crunch defenseman Trent Cull has also been suspended for two (2) regular season games as a result of receiving a match penalty in the same AHL game.

McGrattan has already served two games of his suspension (Feb. 15 vs. Toronto; Feb. 16 at Wilkes-Barre). Both McGrattan and Platil will miss Binghamton's next two games: Wed., Feb. 18 at Syracuse; and Sat., Feb. 21 vs. Providence. Cull has already missed Syracuse's games on Sat., Feb. 14 vs. Rochester and Mon., Feb. 16 vs. San Antonio and is eligible to return immediately.

The AHL also announced that Houston Aeros forward Derek Boogaard has been suspended for one (1) regular season game as a result of his actions in a February 14, 2004 AHL game in Grand Rapids.

Boogaard will miss Houston's next game on Wed., Feb. 18 vs. Grand Rapids.
