Reed Selected to 2012 Sirius XM Futures All-Star Game Roster

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Major League Baseball has announced that Lookouts pitcher Chris Reed has been selected to the United States roster in the 14th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City on July 8th.
Reed, who was tabbed as the fifth best prospect in the Dodgers organization by Baseball America this preseason, has started three games for the Lookouts since his promotion on June 4th. He has not factored into a decision for the Lookouts and has thrown a total of nine innings, yielding two runs on four hits and five walks, while striking out nine. Prior to his promotion, he pitched in seven games (six starts) for Rancho Cucamonga (High-A), where he posted a 1-4 record with a 3.09 ERA in 35 total innings. He was also listed superlatively by Baseball America for having the best slider amongst prospects in the Dodgers organization.
The 22-year-old lefty was drafted in the first round (16th overall) of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of Stanford University, where he posted a 0.96 ERA and nine saves in 12 relief appearances.
Reed graduated Cleveland (CA) High School with a 4.2 GPA in 2008 and was a recipient of the U.S. Army National Scholar Athlete Award.
Last season, OF Alfredo Silverio, who spent the entire 2011 season with the Lookouts, was the Dodgers representative in the SiriusXM Futures All-Star Game.

The SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game features the top Minor League prospects competing as part of Taco Bell All-Star Sunday. The game will begin at 5:00 p.m. (ET)/4:00 p.m. (CT) and can be viewed live on ESPN2, ESPN2 HD and MLB.TV. SiriusXM, the Official Satellite Radio Partner of Major League Baseball, will provide play-by-play coverage of the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on MLB Network Radio (XM channel 89) in addition to SiriusXM's other comprehensive live coverage from Kansas City. The game will also be available to SiriusXM subscribers on the SiriusXM Internet Radio App for smart phones and mobile devices and online at SiriusXM.com. Taco Bell All-Star Sunday is the first of three days of All-Star events at Kauffman Stadium, culminating with the 83rd All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 10th.
Major League Baseball, in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America and the 30 Major League Clubs, selected the 25-man rosters for each club, the U.S. Team and the World Team. Each Major League organization is represented and players from all full-season Minor Leagues were eligible to participate.
The teams feature 17 former first round draft picks (U.S. - 13; World - 4), six players picked in Compensation Round A (U.S. - 5; World - 1) and four second round picks (all U.S.). Among the 17 first round picks, nine were selected in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, including each of the top four overall picks. The World Team features players from 11 different countries and territories outside the 50 United States. The Dominican Republic is represented by eight players, followed by Venezuela (six), Cuba (two) and Puerto Rico (two).
The SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game will last nine innings, and in the event of a tie, a 10th inning will be played. The game will not go longer than 10 innings, regardless of the score. Players and coaches will be outfitted in special SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game jerseys and will wear caps of their Major League organization with a SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game logo embroidered on the side.
The Minor League Baseball Umpires who will work the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game are Kolin Kline (home plate) of the Southern League, Tom Woodring (first base) of the Eastern League, Nick Bailey (second base) of the Pacific Coast League and Spencer Flynn (third base) of the Southern League.
Eighty-eight players have competed in both the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game and the Major League Baseball All-Star Game. In 2011, 30 Major League All-Stars were alumni of the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game. Seven players - Adam Dunn, Neftali Feliz, Jason Heyward, Francisco Liriano, Evan Longoria, Ben Sheets and Geovany Soto - appeared in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game and were named to the All-Star Game in the following season.
