Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Lookouts starting pitcher Allen Webster put forth a quality start for the Lookouts and the offense supplied the necessary runs in a 3-2 win over Pensacola in Thursday night action at AT&T Field.
After three innings of much-ado-about-nothing baseball from a scoring standpoint, the Lookouts plated two in the bottom of the fourth frame. The rally began with two outs already on the board on a seemingly innocuous walk to Kyle Russell. Jake Lemmerman then followed with a hard-hit ball over the centerfielder's head, allowing Russell to easily cross home. Matt Wallach then came through with a solid single to right to bring home a hustling Lemmerman to account for the second run of the inning.
Pensacola quickly countered with their first run of the game in the fifth on a Didi Gregorious RBI single, but the Lookouts promptly negated that run in the bottom portion of the inning. Nick Buss, who led off with a double, eventually scampered home on a Tim Crabbe wild pitch to extend the Lookouts' lead, 3-1.
The run-resulting wild pitch concept caught on, as Andrew Means scored on an Allen Webster (2-7) wild pitch in the top of the sixth to put the score at 3-2 in favor of Chattanooga.
The Blue Wahoos had a golden opportunity to add to their run total in the seventh inning but squandered a bases-loaded opportunity with no outs. Lookouts reliever Red Patterson beat the percentages by striking out two before inducing an inning-ending pop out from Means.
Logan Bawcom shut the door on the Blue Wahoos in the ninth to preserve the win, earning his seventh save of the season with the Lookouts in the process.
Webster earned the win, yielding just two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks, while striking out two. He also induced an impressive ratio of 13 ground outs to only one fly out on the evening.
The Chattanooga Lookouts and Pensacola Blue Wahoos will continue their five-game series at 7:15 P.M., tomorrow. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
