
BayBears Fall Short of Late Comeback in 7-6 Loss

Mobile, AL - Despite scoring five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Mobile BayBears suffered a 7-6 loss to the Montgomery Biscuits Thursday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. The Biscuits took an early lead, scoring four runs in the first inning. Hak-Jue Lee led Montgomery with three hits in five at-bats. Greg Sexton drove in three of the Biscuits runs, including an RBI double in the top of the first. The BayBears got within one run after scoring five runs in the eighth inning. With the loss, the BayBears' five game winning streak at home was snapped, and they fall to 40-31 overall.
RHP Gaby Hernandez suffered the loss for Mobile, allowed six runs on nine hits over five innings to fall to 0-3. The right-hander gave up four runs in the opening frame, and a solo home run to Ryan Garko that highlighted the scoring for Montgomery in the third. The BayBears made it a one-run game in the eighth inning, scoring five runs off RHP Marquis Fleming (3-2). David Nick went 2-for-4 at the plate for the BayBears, including an RBI triple off of Fleming in the eighth inning to make the score 7-6 in favor of Montgomery. Shortstop Chris Owings made his BayBears debut, going 1-for-5 at the plate.
The BayBears and Biscuits continue their series Friday, at 7:05 PM. RHP Chase Anderson (2-1) will take the mound for Mobile, while LHP Kyle Lobstein (3-3) will start for Montgomery. As with all BayBear home games, one hour prior to first pitch, any fan who purchases a ticket to a BayBears home game that day, can enter the Hank Aaron Childhood Home and Museum for free!
