
BayBears Manager Turner Ward to Coach in Futures Game

MOBILE, AL - Mobile BayBears manager Turner Ward has been named a coach for the World Team in the 2012 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game to be held Sunday, July 8th at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
Ward is in his fifth year as a staff member with the Diamondbacks organization and in his second year of managing the BayBears. Ward led Mobile to a Southern League Championship in 2011 and guided the BayBears to a 2012 Southern League South first-half title posting a 40-30 (.571) record.
In addition to Ward joining the coaching staff, BayBears OF Alfredo Marte will play for the World Team, while former BayBears RHP Trevor Bauer has been named to the USA team.
Marte, 23, hit .283 with 13 HR and 45 RBI in 62 games for Mobile. He was voted as the "Top Star" in Tuesday's Southern League All-Star Game after going 2-for-2 with a double and a RBI.
Bauer, 21, started the season with the BayBears, going 7-1 with a 1.88 ERA in eight starts while striking out 60 in 48.1 innings pitched and holding hitters to a .192 batting average. He was promoted to Triple-A Reno on May 17, where he has gone 4-0 with a 2.79 ERA in seven starts. Bauer originally joined the BayBears last September for Mobile's 2011 Southern League Championship run.
The SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, which is now in its 14th year, features the top Minor League prospects competing in a USA vs. World format. The game will begin at 4 p.m. CT and can be viewed live on ESPN2, ESPN2 HD and MLB.com. SiriusXM, the Official Satellite Radio Partner of Major League Baseball, will provide play-by-play coverage on MLB Network Radio XM 89 in addition to its other comprehensive live coverage from Kansas City. All-Star Sunday is the first of three days of All-Star events at Kauffman Stadium, culminating with the 83rd All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 10 th.
The BayBears resume the regular season after the All-Star break on Thursday night against the Montgomery Biscuits, with first pitch at 7:05 p.m. at Hank Aaron Stadium.
