RedHawks Sweep Zephyrs with 8-5 Win

Chris Davis continued his torrid pace in June (.464/3/13) and Oklahoma City (38-28) closed out their first series sweep of the season defeating the New Orleans Zephyrs 8-5 at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.

For the fifth time in 2010, Oklahoma City batters connected on three home runs. Chris Davis began the power surge with a two-run homer (7) in the first inning. Ryan Garko nailed a two-run home run (6) in the fifth, his second of the series, and Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit a solo shot (9) in the seventh inning. It was Saltalamacchia's third homer of the series and second off of Z's reliever Casey Olenberger.

Making a spot start, Geoff Geary (3-5) went four innings, allowing four earned runs and five hits, striking out five.

Reliever Clay Rapada came in with runners on the corners in the sixth inning and needed just one pitch to begin the 1-6-3 double play. Rapada worked 1.1 innings of shutout baseball. Willie Eyre (W, 3-3) shined as well pitching a silent 1.1 innings. Pedro Strop shut the door in the ninth earning his sixth save of the year.

Oklahoma City is on a five-game winning streak as they head on the road for an eight-game trip beginning with Nashville, then off to New Orleans before returning home on June 26th. Pedro Strop shut the door in the ninth earning his sixth save of the year.

Oklahoma City and Nashville will begin their four-game set Friday at Greer Stadium. Tanner Scheppers (1-0, 1.57) and Tim Dillard (1-3, 5.17) are slated to pitch for the RedHawks and Sounds respectively with a first pitch set for 7:05 pm.
