Today's Game: The Oklahoma City Comets look to take the lead in their road series when they next meet the Las Vegas Aviators at 9:05 p.m. CT at Las Vegas Ballpark. The six-game series is tied, 1-1...The Comets will also try to avoid consecutive losses for the first time this season after their stretch of three consecutive wins ended Wednesday.
Last Game: A six-run bottom of the eighth inning broke a tie and sent the Las Vegas Aviators to an 11-5 win over the Oklahoma City Comets Wednesday afternoon at Las Vegas Ballpark. The Comets scored three runs in the first inning, with RBI singles by Ryan Ward and Noah Miller, plus a Las Vegas error. Las Vegas scored twice in both the second and third innings to jump in front, 4-3. Oklahoma City got back into the run column in the fifth inning, tying the game on a bases-loaded walk by Ward and taking a 5-4 lead via a Miller sacrifice fly. Las Vegas tied the game on a solo shot from Henry Bolte in the bottom of the fifth. The game remained tied into the eighth inning when the Aviators erupted for six runs. The rally was set up by a Comets error, and Las Vegas hit a pair of two-run homers throughout the frame.
Today's Probable Pitcher: Cole Irvin (0-1) makes his second start (first road start) after receiving the Opening Day nod for the Comets March 27 vs. Albuquerque (5.0 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 5 BB, 3 K). He took the loss in a 3-1 defeat, allowing all three runs in the second inning. The lefty also set a career high with five walks...Irvin was signed by the Dodgers Feb. 3 as a minor league free agent...Irvin spent last season with the Doosan Bears of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO), finishing 8-12 with a 4.48 ERA in 28 starts...Irvin has MLB experience with Philadelphia (2019-20), Oakland (2021-22), Baltimore (2023-24) and Minnesota (2024), logging 134 appearances, including 93 starts...He made his MLB debut May 12, 2019 with Philadelphia at Kansas City, earning the win after allowing one run and five hits over 7.0 IP...With Lehigh Valley in 2018, he was named International League Pitcher of the Year, a Baseball America Triple-A All-Star and International League Mid-Season and Post-Season All-Star.

Las Vegas won the 2025 PCL Championship, winning the league's first half title before sweeping second-half champion Tacoma, 2-0, in the PCL Championship Series, marking the franchise's first league title since 1988...The Comets won the 2025 season series against the Aviators, 8-4, and have won five of the last seven meetings and seven of the last 10 games between the teams...Ryan Ward paced OKC with 22 hits and 21 RBI along with seven homers in 12 games against Las Vegas last season...The Aviators led the Minors in runs (978), hits (1,519) and AVG (.288) last season...The Comets have won three straight season series against Las Vegas, and going back to the 2023 season, OKC is 19-7 over the last 26 games at Las Vegas Ballpark. The team has not lost consecutive games at LVBP during that stretch.
Offensive Line: The Comets offense recorded 11 hits yesterday, reaching double figures in a fourth straight game. Oklahoma City has compiled 58 hits in that span and the team's 64 hits to start the season are most in Triple-A through five games. OKC's .348 AVG is also best among all Triple-A teams to open 2026...However, for the second time in five games to begin the season, the Comets did not pick up an extra-base hit yesterday - something that happened just three times in 150 games last season...Oklahoma City scored five runs Wednesday and the team's 45 runs to start the season are second-most among Triple-A teams behind Las Vegas' 50.
The Third Degree: James Tibbs III went 2-for-4 Wednesday and now has at least one hit in each of the first five games of the season (12-for-22). He has also tallied at least two hits in four straight contests, going 11-for-18 with eight extra-base hits and nine RBI...He is tied with teammate Ryan Fitzgerald for the most hits in the PCL (12) and he paces the league with a .545 AVG, eight extra-base hits, 27 total bases and 10 runs scored.
Fitz Blitz: Ryan Fitzgerald collected a fourth straight multi-hit game Wednesday, going 3-for-5. During the four-game stretch, Fitzgerald is 12-for-19 with 12 RBI. Fitzgerald has at least three hits in three of the four games...Fitzgerald leads the PCL with 12 RBI and is tied with James Tibbs III for the most hits in the league to start the season (12)...He has seven hits over the first two games of the current series.
Senzational: Nick Senzel had Wednesday off but set a career high Tuesday with seven RBI as he became the first OKC player with seven RBI in a game since Justin Yurchak accomplished the feat June 11, 2023 at El Paso. Senzel's previous career high was five, a mark he set twice and most recently May 16, 2025 with Oklahoma City at Round Rock...Senzel collected three hits and connected on a sixth-inning grand slam Tuesday night, as he hit Oklahoma City's first grand slam of the season for a second consecutive year. It was also the first grand slam for Oklahoma City since James Outman June 28, 2025 at Sacramento.
High Road: The Comets are 1-1 to start the season on the road after finishing with the best road record in the PCL last season at 45-30. The 2025 season marked the fifth straight that OKC finished with a winning road record and third straight with at least 40 wins in away games. Only one other season during the Bricktown era (since 1998) had OKC recorded at least 45 road wins in a season, going 48-27 in 2023...2025 Triple-A National Champion Jacksonville went 45-31 on the road last season and only High-A Greensboro (46) finished with more road wins across the Minors in 2025.
Re-Ward-ed: Reigning Pacific Coast League MVP Ryan Ward went 2-for-4 with two RBI Wednesday, collecting his first multi-hit and multi-RBI game of the season. Ward snapped an 0-for-14 stretch, recording his first hits since his first at-bat of the season...In 2025, Ward led the Minors with 36 home runs, 122 RBI, 73 extra-base hits and 315 total bases in 143 games. He became the second OKC player to win MVP in the last two years (Michael Busch, 2023) and the third to win the award during the team's Bricktown era (since 1998) joining Nelson Cruz (2008)...The outfielder collected the most RBI for any PCL hitter since 2010...Ward set OKC single-season Bricktown-era records with 164 hits, 122 RBI and 113 runs scored and also set Bricktown-era records for career homers (90) and RBI (318).
Dinger Details: The Comets allowed four home runs Wednesday, matching their season-high mark in a single game from the 2025 season (twice). Memphis was the last team to hit four homers in a game against the Comets Aug. 30, 2025 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark...Oklahoma City has now allowed six homers to the Aviators during the first two games of the series and OKC's eight total homers allowed to start the season are most in the PCL after the Comets allowed two homers over a three-game home series against Albuquerque...Oklahoma City allowed a league-low 144 homers in 150 games during the 2025 season...Reliever Ronan Kopp allowed a pair of homers within a three-batter span in the eighth inning yesterday after he gave up just one home run across 57.2 innings between OKC and Double-A Tulsa last year.
Three Ain't Magic: In three of the Comets' last four games, the winning team has erased a deficit of at least three runs. Last Saturday, the Comets trailed, 6-1, against Albuquerque before winning, 13-6. Then on Sunday, OKC fell behind, 3-0, and won, 13-4. Yesterday it was the Comets who jumped out to a 3-0 lead, only to lose, 11-5...Last season, the Comets lost nine times after leading by at least three runs but also won an astounding 19 times after trailing by at least three runs.
Around the Horn: Noah Miller picked up another hit Wednesday and has hit safely in each of his first five games of the season, batting .300 (6-for-20). He hit safely in a season-best six games with OKC last season July 4-10, 2025...Eliezer Alfonzo didn't play Wednesday but recorded three hits Tuesday and has five hits through his first two games with the Comets...OKC went 3-for-7 with runners in scoring position yesterday and is batting .333 (18-for-54) with RISP over the last four games...Oklahoma City recorded two more double plays yesterday and the team's seven double plays to start the season are most in the PCL.
