Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Albuquerque, NM - With the contest tied at a run apiece in the bottom of the eighth inning, Vimael Machin roped a two-run double down the right-field line, giving the Isotopes a 3-1 lead they would not relinquish. Seth Halvorsen closed out the Aces in the ninth, and Albuquerque was able to snap a four-game losing streak.

For a third consecutive day, the Isotopes received an outstanding starting pitching performance. Tanner Gordon took the mound Thursday afternoon and worked 6.0 innings of four-hit, one-run ball with no walks and six strikeouts. Additionally, Gordon threw 58 of his 78 pitches for strikes.

Kohl Drake was equally dominant on the Aces side, working five hitless innings with just two walks permitted. The Isotopes did not record their first knock until there was one out in the sixth.

Topes Scope: - The Isotopes have allowed one run or fewer in back-to-back games for the first time since Aug. 10-11, 2018 at Fresno (one run total in span). Additionally, it is the first time they have accomplished the feat at home since July 18-19, 2018 vs. El Paso (one run in each game).

- In the first three games of this series, Albuquerque starters (Hughes, Sullivan, Gordon) have combined to pitch 15.2 innings with 11 hits and four earned runs allowed, issuing a total of four walks compared to 22 total strikeouts.

- Consecutive Albuquerque starters completed an outing of at least 4.2 innings with one or fewer runs allowed for the first time since Aug. 15-16, 2024 at Round Rock (Carson Palmquist - 6.0 IP; Josh Rogers - 5.0 IP).

- Gordon finished a minimum of five frames while allowing one run or fewer for the eighth time in an Isotopes uniform, including last week's season opener at Oklahoma City (5.0 IP, 1 UR). Additionally, he is the first Albuquerque starter to not issue a walk since Mason Albright on Sept. 19, 2025 vs. Reno (5.0 IP).

- Albuquerque's pitching staff has limited their opponent to one run or fewer in three of the first six contests of the 2026 season, after doing so just four times all of last year.

- Cole Carrigg broke up the no-hit bid with a sixth-inning single, and has hit safely in five of his first six Triple-A games.

- Sterlin Thompson was 0-for-2, and has gone hitless in back-to-back contests for the first time since July 29-30, 2025 vs. Sacramento.

- Zac Veen snapped the Isotopes scoreless streak at 21 frames with a sixth-inning RBI double, also ending his own 0-for-9 drought in the process.

- Machín tallied his first RBI in a PCL game since June 25, 2022 when he was playing for Las Vegas against Albuquerque, a solo homer off Brandon Gold.

- The Isotopes won a contest in which no player recorded a multi-hit effort for the first time since July 10, 2025 at Round Rock. It is the first occurrence at home since April 20, 2025 vs. El Paso in the opening game of a doubleheader.

- Albuquerque recorded three stolen bases, second-most in a game this season (most: six, March 29 at Oklahoma City).

- The Isotopes earned a home victory when scoring three or fewer runs for the first time since June 1, 2025 vs. Sugar Land (3-2).

- Kohl Drake became the third opposing starter since 2005 (MLB Database) to finish an outing with at least five innings pitched and no hits allowed at Isotopes Park. Drake joins Rogelio Armenteros (6.1 IP for Round Rock on Aug. 11, 2019) and Luke Westphal (5.0 IP for El Paso on July 3, 2021).

- The Isotopes played back-to-back nine-inning games under two hours and 20 minutes (2:15 Wednesday, 2:16 Thursday) for the first time since Sept. 4-5, 2024 at Tacoma (2:10 on Sept. 4, 2:19 on Sept. 5). Gordon started the Sept. 4 contest and tossed 8.0 scoreless innings.

On Deck: The Isotopes and Aces meet again Friday at 6:35 pm. Magnet Schedules will be given to the first 3,000 fans, courtesy of Maddox Management LLC. Albuquerque has not announced a probable starting pitcher, while Diamondbacks right-hander Merrill Kelly is slated to make a rehab start for Reno.
