Tonight's scheduled starting pitchers:

RH Bryan Corey (6-7, 5.64) vs. RH Jeff Samardzija (5-4, 3.81)

TONIGHT: After losing twin 2-1 games yesterday, the RedHawks return to action for the third of a 5-game series against the Iowa Cubs. The RedHawks are 7.5 games back of Albuquerque, whose magic number to clinch the American South has shrunk to 5. OKC is 2-5 on this 10-game trip and has dropped 3 straight and 9 of 11, scoring 16 runs in those 11 losses. Righthander Bryan Corey is slated to start for OKC. He's 1-1 with a 5.11 ERA in 2 starts against the Cubs. Righty Jeff Samardzija, whose only start this year against the RedHawks came June 15 in a game Corey won, will start for Iowa. The Cubs are tied for second with Nashville, 2.5 games back of Memphis in the American North.

SOCCER GAMES: The RedHawks were swept in a doubleheader for the first time this season yesterday, losing twice to the Cubs 2-1. The hit total for both teams in the doubleheader was 14 and the clubs combined to go 3-for-27 with runners in scoring position. Iowa had all 3 scoring position hits, as the RedHawks went 0-for-15 in the twin bill with RISP. OKC still leads the league in one-run wins with a 25-16 mark, but is on a 3-game losing streak consisting of one-run losses and has dropped its last 4 one-run games.

WHERE HAVE ALL THE RUNS GONE: Since blasting 5 homers in a 10-4 win on Monday at Omaha, OKC has scored 3 runs (one each game) on 10 hits in the last 3 games, including one extra-base hit, a double by Royce Huffman in yesterday's opener. OKC has played 5 games at Principal Park this season and scored 1 run in each contest, going 1-4. Kevin Richardson has all 3 RBIs at Principal Park, driving in a run in each game July 1-3. Yesterday's OKC runs were produced by errors and did not create RBIs.

HEAVY LOAD: The RedHawks went 0-for-7 while not advancing a runner with the bases loaded in yesterday's doubleheader. They were 0-for-2 with a popup and strikeout in Game 1 and 0-for-5 with a popup and 4 strikeouts in the nightcap.

GERMAN TO REHAB: Esteban German, OKC's All-Star representative this year, is slated to begin a rehab assignment tonight. German, still sixth in the PCL in batting at .322 and third in on-base percentage at .421, had his contract purchased by Texas Aug. 5. He's rehabbing right groin strain that landed him on the 15-day DL Aug. 18, retro Aug. 14.

TWO UNDER: OKC's 65-67 record puts the team two games under .500 for the first time since a win July 11 over Iowa boosted the season mark to 43-45.

RARE BULLPEN LOSSES: OKC relievers Jailen Peguero and Warner Madrigal took the losses yesterday, just the 17th and 18th bullpen losses of the season. Even with those mixed in, the starter has received the decision in 26 of OKC's past 33 games, with the starters going 12-14 and the relievers 2-5 in that span. For the season, OKC's rotation is 40-49 with a 4.38 ERA, while the bullpen is 25-18 with a 4.32. The team's 4.36 ERA is seventh in the PCL.

IOWA VS. COREY: Here's how current Cubs have fared against Bryan Corey in 2009:

Barney 1-3 Griffin 3-6, HR, 4 RBI

Camp 0-3 Robinson 2-3

Clevenger 1-6 Scales 1-5, BB

Craig 1-3 Spears 3-6, RBI
