Oklahoma City, OK - Asher Wojciechowski worked six solid innings to lead Oklahoma City to an 8-1 win over Omaha Thursday night in the second of three meetings at Bricktown Ballpark. The Storm Chasers slid to 24-28 but remained three games behind Memphis in the American Conference North Division.

Omaha starter Ryan Verdugo walked Robbie Grossman with two outs in the third inning and appeared to have him picked off but shortstop Irving Falu couldn't handle a throw from first baseman Chad Tracy, as it hit off his glove and caromed into left field allowing Grossman to reach third base. Jake Elmore then legged out an infield hit to push Grossman across with the game's first run. The Storm Chasers responded quickly, as Xavier Nady blasted a solo home run in the top of the fourth, his ninth of the season and second of the trip, to even the score. But that would be it offensively for the visitors, as they did not advance a runner past second base the rest of the night.

The RedHawks broke the deadlock with a pair of runs in the home fourth on a run-scoring ground out by Marc Krauss and a successful suicide squeeze bunt by Che-Hsuan Lin and then pulled away with two more in the fifth on a Brandon Laird scoring fly ball and a Fernando Martinez RBI single. Verdugo lasted 6 2/3 innings and was charged with the loss after yielding those five runs, though only two were earned, on five hits and four walks while striking out one. The hosts tacked on a trio of runs in the eighth against Donnie Joseph and Brian Sanches to finish the scoring.

Wojciechowski allowed only three hits, walked a pair and punched out four to record his second Triple-A win. Former Kansas City farmhand Kevin Chapman and Josh Zeid each worked a scoreless inning in front of Rhiner Cruz, who struck out two in a perfect ninth to end the game.

The series and road trip wrap up Friday night with Omaha right-hander Nate Adcock getting the starting assignment against OKC southpaw Brett Oberholtzer. Coverage of the game gets underway at 6:45 pm and can be heard locally on 1180 Zone 2 The Deuce and online at omahastormchasers.com.
