COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Tacoma Rainiers rallied late but came up short in a 10-8 loss to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Security Service Field on Thursday night.

Tacoma cut a 10-7 deficit down to a pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning when Brad Miller scored Eric Thames from third on a bases-loaded ground out. Outfielder Corey Patterson loaded the bases again after he was hit by a pitch with two outs, but Dustin Ackley flied out in Tacoma's next at-bat to end the game.

Mike Zunino's RBI single in the first provided the Rainiers an early 1-0 lead until Colorado Springs' Corey Dickerson hit a game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the inning. The Sky Sox pulled ahead for good after piecing together a five-run frame in the second.

Franklin Gutierrez turned in his fourth consecutive multi-hit game after going 2-for-4 and driving in two runs. The outfielder hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning and laced an RBI double in the sixth.

Ackley, Patterson and Nate Tenbrink each recorded two hits on a night when the Rainiers lineup combined for 12 hits against the Sky Sox. Carlos Peguero hit a two-run home run in the third inning - his seventh of the season - and Scott Savastano belted a solo shot in the fourth.

Jonathan Arias (0-1) was dealt the loss in his fourth appearance and second start for the Rainiers this season. The right-hander surrendered six runs, four earned, on five hits over 2.0 innings and struck out two without issuing a walk.

The Rainiers (#-#) play the final game of their four-game series at Colorado Springs (#-#) tomorrow, May 31. Right-hander Blake Beavan (3-2, 4.35) is slated to make his sixth start for Tacoma this season against Sky Sox right-hander Drew Pomeranz (6-1, 4.02). First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
