Redbirds Walk off in 10 Innings against Fresno

MEMPHIS, Tennessee - The first-place Memphis Redbirds (71-42) rallied from a 5-0 deficit and picked up a walk-off win in the bottom of the 10th inning, 6-5, over the Fresno Grizzlies (64-49) Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park.
Memphis scored three in the bottom of the fifth and two in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game at 5. With Lane Thomas starting as the runner on second base in the bottom of the 10th, Rangel Ravelo blooped one over the first baseman's head into short right field to plate Thomas and cue the celebration.
Thomas got the Redbirds back in the game with a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth, which also gave him a hit in all seven games he has played for Memphis so far. He has an extra-base hit in four-straight games and six-of-seven overall. He found himself in the action again in the bottom of the eighth, as he singled and scored on a Ravelo single and error to make it 5-4.
Ravelo crossed the plate as the tying run the next batter, with Justin Williams driving the ball to right-center to bring the Redbirds all the way back at 5-5.
Edward Mujica pitched a scoreless ninth, and the Redbirds went down in order in the bottom of the ninth to go to extra frames. Mujica started the 10th with a flyout and a popout, and Tommy Layne came on and got a groundout on one pitch to strand a runner on third.
The scene then shifted to the bottom of the 10th, where Ravelo provided the heroics and the Redbirds' first walk-off win of the season.
After Connor Jones started and gave up three runs in 2.2 innings and Matt Bowman gave up two in 1.1 innings, four Redbirds relievers combined to pitch the last 6.0 innings in scoreless fashion, allowing just three hits. Landon Beck worked 3.0 outstanding innings, striking out three and surrendering only one knock.
Ravelo finished 3-for-5, and Thomas was 2-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI. Ravelo's hitting streak now stands at 11 games, while Adolis Garcia's ended at 14-straight after he went 0-for-4.
