August 5, 2018 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

Omaha first baseman Frank Schwindel slashed two more hits, including his Pacific Coast League-best 29th double to extend his hit streak to 13, however four Salt Lake Bees hurlers led by starter Ivan Pineyro combined to quiet the Storm Chasers in a 6-0 shutout victory on Sunday evening at Werner Park.

Pineyro (6.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K) earned the win to improve to 5-7 after yielding just three hits over six scoreless frames and retiring each of the final seven batters faced. Jeremy Rhoades (1.0 IP, BB, K), Eduardo Paredes (1.0 IP, 2 K) and Akeel Morris (1.0 IP, BB, K) joined forces for the final four innings in support of Pineyro, retiring 9 of the final ten batters faced. Omaha starter Jake Kalish (5.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K) suffered the defeat.

Both clubs' offenses were held quiet until the fifth, when the Bees struck with a three-spot. 1B Matt Thaiss smacked a two-run double to right, before coming across on 3B Taylor Ward's RBI knock to center put Salt Lake ahead 3-0. The Bees added to their advantage with a single tally in the seventh before knocking in two more insurance scores in the eighth.

Schwindel (2-3, 2B) matched a Storm Chasers season-high by upping his hit streak to 13 with his two knocks and was the only Omaha batter with multiple hits. Since July 22 he has hit .397 (23-58) with 12 runs, ten doubles, five homers and 14 RBI. Salt Lake LF Jabari Blash (4-4, RBI, BB) posted a game-high four hits, with CF Bo Way (3-5, 2 R, 2 2B) and DH Luis Rengifo (2-4, RBI) adding multi-hit efforts.

The two teams continue their four-game set on Monday night, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT. Omaha is anticipated to give the ball to RHP Trevor Oaks (7-5, 2.39), while Salt Lake has not yet announced their starter.
