Reno Aces News Release
Reno, NEV. - The Aces dropped game one to the Oklahoma City Dodgers by a score of 12-9. Ildemaro Vargas extended his hit-streak to 31 games, tying the franchise-best mark. Vargas' single brought him even with former Ace Jake Elmore, who reached the 31-game mark in 2012. Vargas also lead the Aces offensive if a 3-for-5 day, all of which were singles. Neftalà Feliz received the start from manager Greg Gross and went 5.0 innings, striking out six Oklahoma City batters, and only allowed four hits, but received the no decision for his efforts. The win Improves the Aces to a record of 58-55, but still remain 6.0 games back of first-place Fresno.
Oklahoma City opened the scoring in today's ballgame in the fifth frame when Edwin Rios homered to right field and pitcher Logan Bawcom laid down a sacrifice bunt that scored Andrew Toles to give the Dodgers the 2-0 lead. Reno answered right back in the bottom of the inning from the help of Cody Decker's three-run triple and a pair of RBI singles from Vargas and Socrates Brito. The Dodgers wasted no time regaining the lead as they plated four runs in the top of the sixth. Oklahoma City would go on to plate six more runs in the final three frames to take a six-run lead. Reno put up a fight in the bottom of the 9th but wasn't enough to secure the victory. The two teams will square off again tomorrow night with the first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m.
