Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis used the long ball to push past Tucson in their 5-2 victory in front of 13,595 fans at AutoZone Park Saturday on Organ Donor Night.

A two-run homer in the second but the Padres in the lead, but only briefly. Shane Robinson began the third inning with a solo shot for the Redbirds only to have Tyler Greene and Nick Stavinoha follow in his footsteps as they both hit home runs, all three in consecutive at-bats. Tony Cruz's base hit to center field plated Mark Hamilton as Pete Kozma's RBI-single rounded out the inning and the 'Birds scoring on the night.

Padres starter Will Inman surrendered all five runs on eight hits in three innings of work walking one while not striking out a batter for the loss. Memphis starter Brandon Dickson allowed only two runs on five hits over 6.2 innings while walking two and matching his season-high of nine strikeouts for his sixth win on the year. Victor Marte nailed down his 22nd save with a scoreless ninth inning.

The 'Birds and Padres play tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m. The 'Birds send Adam Ottavino to the bump to face Tucson's Jeremy Hefner. Tomorrow the Redbirds will hold Pink in the Park, a breast cancer awareness night sponsored by DeVry University and proudly supported by EMHC. The team will sport pink jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game. For ticket information call 901.721.6000 or visit memphisredbirds.com.
