New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

Hammond native Wade Miley threw a complete game three-hitter for the Reno Aces and went 3-for-5 at the plate to defeat the New Orleans Zephyrs, 4-1 on Saturday night at Zephyr Field.

Miley allowed a leadoff bunt single to Jorge Padilla in the bottom of the first, and a one-out single to Jose Lopez to give the Zephyrs a 1-0 advantage, but held New Orleans without another hit until a Brad Davis double in the eighth inning.

Miley (4-1) issued his only walk of the game with one out in the ninth to Joe Thurston. After a mound meeting with Aces manager Brett Butler, Miley got Lopez to bounce into a game-ending double play, sealing the first complete game against the Zephyrs since Round Rock's Yorman Bazardo on May 31, 2009.

Reno still trailed 1-0 in the fourth when Ryan Langerhans led off with a double, and moved to third on a Konrad Schmidt ground out.

Tommy Manzella grounded out to second, allowing Langerhans to score the tying run.

Reno took the lead the sixth, getting singles from Manzella and Miley before Evan Frey laced a two-run triple off the wall in right-center field to take a 3-1 lead, knocking out Z's starter Chris Sampson.

Sampson (7-1) allowed four runs on 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings to take his first loss of the year. Sampson was attempting to become the first New Orleans pitcher to begin a season 8-0.

Garrett Parcell took over for Sampson and surrendered an RBI double to Andy Tracy to give Reno a 4-1 lead. Tracy finished 3-for-4, and now has five hits in seven at-bats in the series.

The Zephyrs return to action on Sunday at 6 p.m. Darin Downs (1-1) will make his second start for the Zephyrs as he takes on Reno's Barry Enright (8-3).
