ROCHESTER, NY - The Rochester Red Wings (17-16) used a seven-run bottom of the fourth to beat the Gwinnett Braves (16-17) Tuesday night by a 9-3 score in game two of the four-game series at Frontier Field.

Ozzie Albies, the Atlanta Braves' No. 3 prospect according to MLB.com, swatted his first Triple-A home run in the top of the third, taking Rochester starter Tommy Milone deep to left field. The home run put Gwinnett on top 1-0.

However, the bottom of the fourth proved to be a nightmare for Gwinnett starter Casey Kelly (L, 1-1). Heading into that half inning, he had retired eight batters in a row, however, Kelly walked Kenny Vargas to open the frame. After Adam Walker singled and Buck Britton walked, Wilfredo Tovar hit a slow roller to G-Braves' third baseman Rio Ruiz, whose throw home hit Vargas and eluded catcher Ryan Lavarnway, allowing Vargas and Walker to score.

After John Ryan Murphy played Britton with an RBI single to center and Steven Wickens grounded out to bring home Tovar, Kelly yielded a single to Byron Buxton and walked James Beresford to re-load the bases. Right-hander Ryan Weber replaced Kelly on the mound and promptly allowed a two-RBI double to Max Kepler, extending the Rochester lead to 6-1 and Walker capped the inning with a sacrifice fly later in the frame. The Red Wings sent 12 men to the plate in the inning in all.

The G-Braves cut into the lead in the top of the sixth as Emilio Bonifacio led off reaching on an error and moved to second on a single to left by Adonis Garcia. With two outs, Ronnier Mustelier greeted reliever J.T. Chargois with a two-RBI double to right, bringing Gwinnett within 7-3.

But in the bottom of the sixth, with Matt Marksberry pitching for Gwinnett, the Red Wings got the runs back as Britton drew a bases-loaded walk and Tovar drove in another on an infield single.

Kelly, who had tossed a career-high 8.0 innings in his last start, lasted only 3.1 innings Tuesday. The righty allowed seven runs (five earned) on just four hits, while walking five and striking out four. Weber allowed a hit and a walk over 1.2 innings, collecting one strikeout and Marksberry gave up three hits and two runs in 1.0 inning, while walking one. Jose Ramirez tossed the final 2.0 innings, striking out three and holding Rochester off the board.

Milone (W, 1-0) picked up his first win of the season after pitching 5.2 innings and allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits. He struck out five and did not walk a batter. Chargolis got two outs while striking out two and allowing one hit before Marcus Walden tossed 1.2 scoreless innings and Ryan O'Rourke worked a perfect ninth, picking up a strikeout, for Rochester.

Offensively, the G-Braves were paced by Garcia who was 2-for-4 with a run and Mustelier, whose one hit in four at-bats drove in two runs. Albies' lone hit was his solo home run.

For the Red Wings, Kepler went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs and Buxton was 2-for-5 with a run.

The Gwinnett loss, combined with a Charlotte doubleheader sweep of Norfolk earlier Tuesday, moved the G-Braves and Knights into a first-place tie in the International League South Division.

The G-Braves and Red Wings continue the four-game series Wednesday night in Rochester. Righty Williams Perez (1-2, 3.26) draws the starting assignment for Gwinnett against left-hander Andrew Albers (0-0, 5.56) for the Red Wings. Tony Schiavone has the call of the action beginning at 6:35 p.m. on 97.7 FM. First pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
