Rochester Red Wings News Release

The Rochester Red Wings dropped the series finale to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 7-3 on Thursday night at PNC Field in Moosic, PA.

After winning the first two games of the series, the Wings settled for the series split. Rochester hasn't won a series in Scranton since 2014.

Tomas Telis gave the Red Wings a 1-0 lead after driving in Nick Gordon on a sacrifice fly in the first inning. Entering the game, Rochester had only scored four runs in the first inning all season.

The Wings (10-16) built a 3-0 lead in the fourth after RBI singles from Drew Maggi and Gordon, but Scranton would score the game's final seven runs.

Gordon - who started his first game of the season for the Red Wings after beginning the year on the injured list -- went 3-for-5 with a run and RBI.

Chase De Jong (0-3) suffered the loss allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks over four innings.

The RailRiders tacked on three more insurance runs off Jake Reed in the eighth inning.

Other than Gordon, Jordany Valdespin was the only other Wing with multiple hits on the evening.

Maggi extended his on-base streak to 11 games with his RBI single in the fourth. In the sixth, John Andreoli also extended his on-base streak to 11 games with a walk.

The Wings continue their road trip on Friday night against the Pawtucket Red Sox. Southpaw Devin Smeltzer makes his Red Wings debut after going 3-1 with a 0.60 ERA in five starts for Pensacola.

WINGS THINGS: Prior to the game, relief pitcher Mike Morin had his contract selected by Minnesota after Adalberto Mejia went on the injured list.
