YESTERDAY: The Tribe hit three home runs but couldn't chase down Columbus in a 9-7 loss Wednesday afternoon. Jake Elmore, Jason Martin and Patrick Kivlehan provided the power, but the Clippers scored eight times off Tribe starter Rookie Davis in his 5.0 innings of work to take the series, 2-1. Trayce Thompson gave the visitors the lead for good with a three-run homer in the second inning. Columbus tacked on three more runs in the third, only to see the Indians respond with three of their own in the bottom half, two coming on a Ke'Bryan Hayes double. The two-bagger was his league-leading 11th of the season. Columbus and Indy exchanged two runs apiece in the fifth before swapping solo homers in the seventh. Kivlehan's blast with one away in the ninth provided the final margin.

TONIGHT: The Indians and Bats open a four-game series tonight at Victory Field. The two IL West foes met at The Vic from April 19-21, with the visiting Bats taking two of three in that series. Indy won the series finale in that three-game set, a game that pitted tonight's starters against one another -- Mitch Keller for Indy and Keury Mella for Louisville. Keller hurled 6.0 shutout innings with eight strikeouts while Mella worked 7.0 scoreless frames with seven punchouts. The Tribe prevailed in 11 innings, 2-1.

CIRCLE CITY THURSDAY: The Tribe will wear their new Circle City jerseys and hats tonight for the first of seven home Thursday games they'll be worn this year. The uniforms, complete with navy pinstripes on the pants, were created by Borshoff, a local advertising and public relations agency that is a partner of the Indians. The Circle City hat logo has baseball stitches laced through what represents the streets at Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis.

KELLER BALL: Pittsburgh's top prospect and a consensus top 30 prospect in all of baseball, RHP Mitch Keller, will make his sixth start of the season this evening and second of the 2019 campaign against Louisville. Keller, 23, is 2-0 and ranks among IL leaders in strikeouts (3rd, 32), walks issued (T-6th, 14) and ERA (7th, 3.60). He is coming off a 10-strikeout performance last Saturday in Charlotte, the fifth double-digit strikeout game of his career and first since July 5, 2018 vs. Louisville. He was named IL Pitcher of the Week already once this season on April 22.

MARTIN POPS ONE: Jason Martin provided the Tribe with some punch atop the lineup yesterday in his return to Triple-A. The 23-year-old ripped a two-run homer in the fifth inning 408 feet to center off RHP Michael Peoples, bringing the Tribe within three runs of Columbus at 8-5. The dinger was Martin's first of the 2019 campaign after he popped 13 last year between Double-A Altoona (9) and Indianapolis (4).

KIVLEHAN'S DESTROYS ONE: Patrick Kivlehan launched his third home run of the season in the bottom of the ninth off LHP Josh Smith yesterday, a 477-foot moonshot into Victory Field's evergreens in straightaway center field. The blast was the longest home run hit by a Tribe player this season, according to Trackman data. Kivlehan's home run had a launch angle of 25 degrees and an exit velocity of 112 mph.

SIX UP: Jake Elmore (.391, 9-for-23) and Ke'Bryan Hayes (.308, 8-for-26) are both riding six-game hitting streaks entering tonight's game. Elmore has hit safely in 14 of his last 16 games overall, batting .439 (25-for-57) with 14 of his 16 RBI on the season during that stretch, which dates back to April 12. Elmore leads the IL with a .400 average (32-for-80) in 22 games played.

DRIVE 'EM IN: Elmore has driven in at least one run in five straight games and seven of his last eight contests overall. The five-game RBI streak is the longest by a Tribe player this season. It is also the third five-plus game RBI streak of the 31-year-old's career; he had a five-game streak from July 13-17, 2011 with Double-A Mobile (Diamondbacks) and a career-high six-game RBI streak from June 5-12, 2012 with Triple-A Reno (Diamondbacks).

ANOTHER ZERO FOR MONTANA: Reliever Montana DuRapau carried over his April success into May with another scoreless inning yesterday, running his scoreless streak to 10.2 innings dating back to April 7. He has given up just one unearned run in 12.1 innings pitched this season and IL opponents are batting .079 (3-for-38) against him with four walks and 15 strikeouts.
