
Red Claws Set 2 Records, Frazier Records Triple-Double in 122-114

Portland, ME- The Maine Red Claws (6-2), presented by Unum, set a new franchise record of 78 points in the first half and got a triple-double from Tim Frazier, the fifth in team history on their way to the 122-114 victory over the Sioux Falls Skyforce (3-4) Saturday night at the Portland Expo Building. The win is the first at home against the Skyforce in franchise history (1-5).
Both teams got out to an early hot start, with the Red Claws shooting 59.1% and the Skyforce connecting on 52.4% of their shots in the first quarter. The Red Claws took the lead with 4:59 remaining in the quarter and never trailed again. Maine got 10 points and three rebounds from Boston Celtics assignee Dwight Powell in the quarter and balanced scoring from the team, with seven other players chipping in, while the Sioux Falls got eight points from Miami Heat guard Andre Dawkins and six more from Khem Birch on the way to a 34-27 Maine lead after one.
The second quarter saw the Red Claws get hot from deep, converting 8-12 three point attempts and 17-25 overall shooting to run away with a 78-56 halftime lead. Sioux Falls got 13 from Fuquan Edwin tossed in 13, but Chris Babb had 12 and Celtics assignee James Young had 11 to pace the Red Claws 44 point effort, a new Red Claws franchise record for second quarter points.
Maine cooled off in the third, allowing the Skyforce to cut the lead down to five. The Red Claws shot 3-24 from the field and 14 points in the quarter while Sioux Falls got 31, with Dawkins' nine and AJ Davis' eight points leading the way into the final 12 minutes with a narrow 92-87 Maine lead.
The fourth quarter saw the Skyforce cut the Maine lead to one with 8:07 to go, but the Red Claws were able to push their lead back up to six and never let it slip below four for the remainder of the game. Frazier, who had 11 points, four assists and three rebounds in the quarter, completed the triple-double with 2:59 remaining in the game and the Red Claws converted free throws down the stretch to hold on to the victory.
The Skyforce were led by Edwin (28 points, 10 rebounds) while getting solid contributions from Dawkins (25), Birch (13 points, six rebounds, four blocks), Davis (12 points, five rebounds) and Chris Allen (10).
Powell paced the Red Claws with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Frazier (18 points, 13 assists, 10 rebounds), Babb (23 points, 10 rebounds), Young (19 points, five rebounds), Omari Johnson (10) and Andre Stringer (10) rounded out the Maine players in double figures.
