Oklahoma City Blue News Release
CEDAR PARK, Texas - The Oklahoma City Blue overcame a 12-point deficit in the final six minutes of regulation but fell to the Austin Spurs, 119-117, in overtime on Saturday in Cedar Park, Texas. Oklahoma City Thunder forward Mitch McGary scored 19 points with 11 rebounds, two steals and one block in 29 minutes.
Semaj Christon was one of five players to score in double figures, posting 19 points, nine assists, three rebounds and two steals. Josh Huestis scored 17 points with seven rebounds and six blocks. Mario Little recorded 17 points, five assists and four rebounds and Michael Jenkins added 14 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two assists.
Trailing 103-91 with six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Blue went on a 14-3 run to pull within one point of the Spurs on a McGary dunk with 1:35 to go. After back-to-back stops by the Blue defense, Oklahoma City took the lead on a put-back tip-in from Little with 14.8 seconds remaining.
Austin's Bryce Cotton was fouled on the next possession, tying the game at 107 on his first foul shot. Cotton missed his second attempt, allowing OKC the final possession of regulation. Christon beat the buzzer with an 18-footer, but the ball circled the rim and rolled out to force the game to overtime.
The Spurs built a four-point lead with 38 seconds left in the three-minute overtime period, but the Blue would make another comeback push, beginning with a Jenkins three to pull within one. The Spurs and Blue exchanged layups on each end before Austin's Jarell Eddie headed to the foul line at the 7.4 second mark. After Eddie made his first shot, his second fell short, allowing Little to grab the rebound and setup a Jenkins three-point attempt that narrowly missed the mark as the buzzer sounded.
Oklahoma City (3-5) blocked 12 shots throughout the game while shooting 48.9 percent from the field.
Austin (4-3) was led by Cotton's 34 points and seven boards.
The Blue is back in action on Wednesday at the COX Convention Center when it hosts the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at 7 p.m. For more information, visit OklahomaCityBlue.com.
