Iowa Energy Win Exciting Home Opener

Des Moines, Iowa. - The Iowa Energy (4-2) won 102-100 against the Delaware 87ers (3-4) Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Energy were led by Diante Garrett with 27 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists, Damien Wilkins added 18 points and 13 rebounds and Memphis Grizzlies assignee Jordan Adams had 18 points and 6 rebounds. Delaware was led by DJ Seeley with 22 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

Delaware jumped out to an early first quarter lead behind Nolan Smith's 8 points. The 87ers continued to pull ahead leading 31-12 at the end of the first quarter. Delaware increased the lead in the second quarter taking a 61-38 lead into halftime.

The Energy came out of halftime ready to fight and got back into the game with a huge third quarter behind Diante Garrett's 18 points and Damien Wilkins' 12 points. The Energy outscored the 87ers 39-15 in an exciting third quarter. Iowa was able to overcome a 25-point deficit thanks to Garrett's three three-pointers spurring the momentum for the Energy.

Iowa was able to carry the momentum into the fourth quarter. After a back and forth battle during the quarter, Damien Wilkins tied the game at 100 with a late free-throw. The Energy took the go-ahead lead on a last second basket by Ferrakohn Hall with 1.1 seconds left on the clock.

The Energy are back in action Sunday at 4 p.m. against the Texas Legends. The first 1500 fans receive a team poster followed by a team autograph session after the game.
