Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Hagerstown Suns set a number of records against the BlueClaws, including the record for most runs allowed in a single game, in their 15-2 victory over Lakewood.

Propelled by a nine-run 4th inning, the Suns scored a record 15 runs against the BlueClaws, and with their 19 hits fell just one hit short of the record ever recorded against Lakewood. In the nine-run inning, the Suns first eight batters all reached base via a hit and scored before an out was recorded. The eighth batter of the inning was catcher Adrian Nieto who connected on a three-run home run. Nieto, who hit a grand slam in Thursday's game, now has seven RBI in the first two games of this series.

The lone batter to not record a hit and score in the 4th inning was starting left fielder J.P. Ramirez, but he homered in the 8th inning to make sure every Hagerstown starter had at least one hit and one run scored.

BlueClaws starting pitcher Lino Martinez was pulled after 3.1 innings which resulted in 12 runs- all earned- on 14 hits. The 12 runs, 12 earned runs and 14 hits were all single-game franchise records allowed by a pitcher in an outing for the BlueClaws.

Starting left fielder Brian Pointer hit a home run to contribute one of the two BlueClaws runs on the game. His home run came with one out in the top of the 4th inning to bring Lakewood back within a run, and it tied Pointer with four others for the South Atlantic League lead with four home runs on the season.

The BlueClaws will look to snap a four-game losing streak Saturday evening at Municipal Stadium. The BlueClaws will send lefty Ervis Manzanillo (0-1, 6.55) to the mound against Brian Dupra (0-3, 5.02) for the Suns. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
