KANNAPOLIS, N.C. -- The Kannapolis Intimidators brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning but came up short in a 6-4 loss to the Lexington Legends on Friday night at CMC- NorthEast Stadium. The Intimidators left 10 runners on base and only recorded one of their 12 hits after the fifth inning.

Lexington leapfrogged the Intimidators in the top of the sixth inning on RBI-singles from Justin Gominsky and Zach Johnson for a 5-4 lead. The Legends added a run in the seventh on Alex Todd's RBI-single, and Lexington's bullpen held the line.

Kevan Smith and Rangel Ravelo paced the Intimidators with three hits each in a losing effort, and Ravelo extended his current hitting streak to 11 games.

Legends starter Kyle Hallock (1-0) earned the win, allowing four runs and scattering 11 hits over five innings in his second start against Kannapolis this season. Carlos Quevedo kept the Intimidators off the board for three innings, and Jason Chowning tossed a scoreless ninth inning for his second save in as many nights.

Terance Marin (1-1) took the loss for Kannapolis, allowing two runs on three hits over 2.2 innings while striking out four and walking one.

Delino DeShields Jr. led off the game with a single to right field, and Intimidators starter Kevin Vance walked Gominsky. Two batters later, Vance plunked Johnson with the based loaded, putting Lexington on the board. Gominsky scored when Matt Duffy grounded into a double- play for a 2-0 lead. The Legends added a run in the second inning off an Intimidators error on a Kevan Smith throw to second base.

Kannapolis returned fire in the bottom of the second as Keenyn Walker doubled, and Collin Kuhn singled him home. Two batters later, Ross Wilson's base hit to right field cashed Kuhn to pull within a run. In the third inning, Kevan Smith led off with a double and scored on Leighton Pangilinan's hard grounder up the middle, tying the game, 3-3.

The Intimidators broke a 3-3 tie in the fifth inning when Smith singled, moved to second base on Ravelo's base hit, and scored when Mark Haddow drove a ball into right field for a 4-3 lead.

The Intimidators and Legends play the third game of a four-game series with post-game fireworks on Saturday, April 21. For ticket information, call the box office at (704) 932-3267 or visit www.IntimidatorsBaseball.com.
